Progress on these schemes was reported alongside the main DFG within the Growth Directorate Capital update report. The five projects contained within the report were: 1. The review of the day time offer 2. Christ Church Community Developments (CCCD) - 4C Community Centre in Ashton 3. Moving with Dignity (Single Handed Care) 4. Disability Assessment Centre 5. Brain in Hand The Oxford Park business case report and the Christ Church Community Developments (CCCD) 4C Community Centre in Ashton reports had previously been agreed by Members. -

2 STARTING OUT 2021 A GUIDE TO APPLYING FOR A SCHOOL PLACE Your child is due to start primary school in September. This is a very exciting and important time and we hope this booklet will help you by providing all the information you need to help you to make your primary school application. Tameside has a range of primary schools to consider, as well as schools with resource bases and special schools for children with special educational needs. There are some facts about schools in this booklet, but for more detailed information you need to contact the relevant head teacher. You might want to make an appointment to visit the school before you complete your application form. Please take the time to read through this booklet carefully, even if you have older children and already have experience of applying for a school place. The information provided will help you to state six preferences for the schools you would most like your child to attend. You will need to complete an online application which is quick and easy to use (www.tameside.gov.uk/schools/admissions) and we would encourage all parents to make use of this simple system. If you do not have access to the internet, you can use the facilities in your local library: you will need an email address. In order to maximise your chances of being offered one of your preferred schools you must submit an application with any required documents on time and your child must meet the admissions criteria of the school to be offered a place. -

Report to: EXECUTIVE CABINET Date: 27 January 2021 Executive Member: Councillor Leanne Feeley – Executive Member (Lifelong Learning, Equalities, Culture and Heritage) Reporting Officer: Richard Hancock – Executive Director, Children’s Services Subject: DETERMINATION OF ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS SEPTEMBER 2022 Report Summary: The report sets out the proposed admission arrangements for Tameside community, and voluntary controlled schools for admission in September 2022. There has been no change to these from September 2021. The report highlights changes proposed by the Department for Education to the School Admissions Code. Information is provided on the impact of coronavirus on admission arrangements in some voluntary aided schools for September 2021. The latest information on school place planning is presented which concludes that whilst there are currently sufficient places to meet expected demand, the school place planning process must continue to be dynamic particularly in view of significant housing development that is predicted within the borough and the impact that will have on demand and travel to learn patterns. Recommendations: That Executive Cabinet be recommended to agree the determination of admission arrangements for all Tameside community and voluntary controlled schools for 2022/23 without change from those that applied for admission in 2021/22 as set out in Appendix 1 of the Report other than amendments to the Published Admission Number as set out in the report. Corporate Plan: The proposals contained within this report will support the delivery of the Community Strategy, through the delivery of sufficient and suitable places to meet anticipated increased demand in 2022/23. Policy Implications: The admission arrangements for 2022/23 academic year for all voluntary controlled and community schools are the same as for 2021/22 as determined in February 2020. -

Great schools in which to learn, teach and belong Consultation 22nd February 2021 to the 2nd April 2021 This consultation briefing describes the overall aims, ambitions and plans for the establishment of the Tame River Educational Trust from the 1st September 2021, subject to statutory consultation, of which this is a part. Who are the founding schools and sponsor? In alphabetical order, the schools which have been working together for nearly two years to establish the new Trust are: • Alder Community High School • Droylsden Academy • Hyde High School • Mossley Hollins High School Background information about the planning we have been doing has been shared previously with parents and carers in each school and has been made public on our websites for some time. Three of the schools are consulting on their plans to convert to an academy as a necessary first legal step in forming our Tame River Educational Trust with each other and with Droylsden Academy, which is consulting on transferring from a sponsored single-academy trust to a sponsored multi-academy trust with the other three schools. As you know Mossley Hollins High School has already been in a Soft Federation partnership with Droylsden Academy for nearly 6 years now under the executive leadership of Mr Drew Duncan (who was previously the Headteacher at Mossley Hollins, between 2002 and 2015), working in partnership with the Headteachers and teams across both schools for their mutual benefit. Who will be our sponsor and who supports this change in designation? The proposal to form our sponsored Educational Trust has received the formal approval of Tameside Local Authority, the four school Governing Bodies, the Lancashire and West Yorkshire Regional Schools’ Commission and the Department for Education.
