Sponsored by 1 Contents Executive Director Welcome Welcome all WUN delegates to the home of the Treaty of Maastricht – birth certificate of the European Union. WUN is proud to hold our Annual Conference and AGM in this historic city, along with workshops and the Presidents Forum in Brussels; and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the University of Maastricht. The WUN Conference & AGM grows stronger and deeper each year. This is the flagship event of WUN’s annual calendar. Here we present and celebrate selected research programs in the WUN Global Challenges – worldwide teamwork that is central to the WUN identity. We meet to plan our strategic priorities for the coming year and beyond. We focus the ideas of our members to build our success. We have distilled an exciting program of conferences and workshops that draw together a taste of our research and education portfolio. The 2nd WUN Migration Conference will examine the vexing issues confronting Europe as a seemingly endless wave of humanity seeks a better life. The successful in-FLAME Network joins us for their 5th Annual Workshop tackling the challenge of chronic inflammatory non-communicable diseases. WUN launches its Economics Cross-Cutting theme, with the inaugural WUN Economics Workshop, laying the groundwork for collaborative programs that draw in the full strengths of our economists. The new WUN Africa Group explores its strategic advantage. The WUN Global China Group hosts a workshop on China’s foreign direct investment and global supply chains, in nearby Brussels. We partner with Maastricht University to present a symposium on the International Classroom that explores the globalisation of higher education. Our strengths in public health are on full display with two separate workshops addressing health resilience and global health partnership respectively. It is a packed schedule, so I hope you find the time to explore charming Maastricht! This is also the time to reflect on the many people who dedicate their time and talent to WUN throughout the year.     Ommetje Romeins Maastricht op 30 april 2018 door Maureen van Brandenburg In het teken van de Romeinenweek werd gistermiddag door IVN Natuureducatie Limburg het Ommetje Maastricht georganiseerd. Toeristen, maar ook bewoners van de stad wandelden met IVN-landschapsgids Carlo Poolen mee om meer te weten te komen over het Romeins verleden van Maastricht. In het bijzonder werd aandacht besteed aan de Romeinse weg die dwars door de stad heeft gelopen: de Via Belgica. De wandeling startte bij Derlon Hotel, waar we na een korte introductie afdaalden naar de bijzondere museumkelder. In de vorige eeuw werden hier de resten gevonden van een Romeins heiligdom, dat door de gastvrijheid van de eigenaren van het hotel nog steeds toegankelijk is voor bezoekers. Buiten hebben we het oudste fundament van de Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe-basiliek ontdekt: de grote, grijze hoekstenen die op het eerste oog doodgewoon lijken. Toch zijn deze waarschijnlijk afkomstig van het fort dat de Romeinen toendertijd hier hebben gebouwd. Vanwege zijn kennis over het landschap, lichtte de gids toe dat deze Naamse steen ook voor veel andere gebouwen in Maastricht, maar ook Luik en Aachen is gebruikt. Even later stonden we bovenop het kleine bruggetje over de Jeker in het stadspark. Hier stonden we stil bij de naamgeving van Maastricht: volgens velen is deze afgeleid van het Romeinse Mosa Trajectum of Traiectum ad Mosam. Maar of dat echt zo is, weten we niet! Traiectum betekent ‘doorgetrokken’ en zou duiden op de weg die door de brug de Maas zou overtrekken. Romeinse geschriften waarin deze naam vermeld staat, ontbreken echter. Via de Hoge Brug en Plein 1992 liepen we door de Rechtstraat.

De deelnemers aan de werkgroep zijn: - GGD Zuid-Limburg, - Mondriaan Maastricht-Heuvelland, - Trajekt, - Centrum Seksueel Geweld Limburg, - Consent Matters en - Rutgers (Rutgersstichting). - Vanuit de gemeente nemen medewerkers vanuit communicatie, zorg en veiligheid, publieke gezondheid en geweld hoort nergens thuis, deelgenomen. Deze samenwerking heeft in 2019 geleid tot een grotere samenwerking en afstemming tussen de deelnemende partners hetgeen geleid heeft tot een meer samenhangende signalering en aanpak van problematiek binnen de eigen organisaties en doelstellingen.

    Bijlage 2 Zienswijzenrapport bestemmingsplan ‘Palace Wyck e.o.’ 1 Inleiding en ontvankelijkheid Het ontwerp van het bestemmingsplan ‘Palace Wyck e.o.’ heeft van 3 juli tot en met 13 augustus 2020 ter inzage gelegen. In deze periode is aan eenieder de gelegenheid geboden om binnen deze termijn zienswijzen met betrekking tot het ontwerp van het bestemmingsplan kenbaar te maken. Gedurende deze periode zijn 21 zienswijzen ontvangen. De zienswijzen zijn geanalyseerd en samengevat. In verband met de bescherming van de privacy zijn in dit zienswijzenrapport de namen van de indieners van de resp. zienswijzen, voor zover het natuurlijke personen betreft, geanonimiseerd; zij worden aangeduid als ‘reclamant’. Overige namen van natuurlijke personen, waarnaar in de zienswijze wordt verwezen, zijn eveneens geanonimiseerd. Van de mogelijkheid om mondeling zienswijzen kenbaar te maken is door twee reclamanten (met de zienswijzennummers 17 en 18) gebruik gemaakt. Alle reclamanten hebben binnen de bovenvermelde termijn een zienswijze ingediend en ontvangen, en zijn daarmee ontvankelijk. Een aantal reclamanten heeft binnen deze periode alleen een pro forma-zienswijze ingediend, vergezeld van het verzoek om een nadere termijn van de gemeente te mogen ontvangen om de zienswijze inhoudelijk aan te vullen. Aan dit verzoek is gehoor gegeven door middel van het stellen van een nadere termijn om de zienswijze aan te vullen. De stadsrally is gericht op Duitse scholieren die Nederlands leren op school. Let op: deze stadrally omvat twee verschillende routes. Vind- plaatsen van Keltische bewoning uit de 5e M eeuw v.Chr. zijn niet aan de rivier maar op de plateaus rondom. De bewoning aan de rivier begon rond een doorwaadbare plek in de Maas, die de Romeinen uitkozen voor één van hun roemruchte heirbanen. In dit geval de oost-west lopende weg van Keulen naar Boulogne via Bavay aan de Ka- naalkust. Omdat die oversteek alleen bij laagwater bruikbaar was werd in de eerste eeuw een brug gebouwd, zodat in elk seizoen overgestoken kon worden. De toegangen tot die brug werden aan beide oevers beveiligd door versterkingen, met aan de westoever een castellum. Een castellum kon een cohort (500- 1000 man) huisvesten en was bedoeld ter verdediging van een object of als ravitailleringspost. Dat is de overkoepelende vraag en de uitdaging voor de komende jaren. Met ‘ie bedoelen we natuurlijk de fiets. En met goed bedoelen we veilig, gemakkelijk en dichtbij de bestemming. Maastricht wil een duurzame en bereikbare stad zijn. Een toekomstbestendige stad. En vooral een leefbare stad. Om hiernaartoe te blijven werken, zetten we volop in op de mobiliteitstransitie. Een transitie naar meer fietsgebruik en juist minder autogebruik. Minder autogebruik heeft een positief effect op onze gezondheid, de luchtkwaliteit en de uitstoot van CO2. Ook neemt een fiets minder ruimte in dan een auto. De vrijkomende ruimte kan dan niet alleen gebruikt worden om de fiets te parkeren, maar ook worden ingezet voor meer groen en voor meer speel- en ontmoetingsplekken. De fiets vervult dus een sleutelrol in het hele proces van leefbaarheid in Maastricht. In dit actieplan fietsparkeren beschrijven we waar de uitda- gingen en kansen liggen in de komende jaren.
