To get from the stations to to here, follow those routes. Ramp down to the river (55.85650; -4.26020) Soon after having crossed the road at George V Bridge, there is a ramp behind you that leads down to the river. Make a u-turn to enter this ramp. National Cycle Route 75 & 756 (55.85629; -4.26015) 2 / 10 Turn right and cycle along the path beside the river. You will be on the path for quite a while. Join pavement (55.85722; -4.27909) At this point, the cycle path heads up to the wide, smooth pavement beside Lancefield Quay road. Join pavement (55.85735; -4.27916) 3 / 10 This pavement allows cycles as well as pedestrians. Cross the road (55.85772; -4.28171) Crossh Clyde Arc road at the signal crossing.     Protecting and Promoting the Evolving Maritime Heritage of the Tidal River Clyde Glasgow City Council Development and Regeneration Services 231 George Street Glasgow G1 1RX Comments on the Glasgow Strategic Development Framework (SDF) – River Clyde Corridor CDPI broadly supports the content of draft SDF for the Clyde Corridor. We recognise that taking forward the aims of it will have the potential to make a significant contribution to the economy of the city and ‘reactivation’ of the river/waterfront. There are however a number of issues/areas where we think that greater focus is needed and would be of benefit. These are outlined below: 1. Greater focus is needed on maritime heritage (both historical and modern) and for the legacy of shipbuilding to be respected, reflected and interpreted in new developments and landscaping of public realm – something that has not been done to date. How can we integrate Glasgow’s past into its future and respect the history and heritage? To date this has not been seriously addressed in a planning context. 2. Greater focus is needed on potential for new, clean and sustainable industrial development as part of the mix of future regeneration – in particular taking into account recent proposals for returning marine engineering work to the derelict Govan Graving Docks. Could the BAE Systems shipyards diversify beyond defence work? These are questions that community/advocacy groups and academics are asking and they need to be included more formally in future local authority planning.

Fairhurst & Partners Joint Venture (HFJV) was appointed by Glasgow City Council (GCC) in May 2003 to undertake the RCFMS. The study adopted a catchment wide approach to help deliver a strategy for the council to manage flood risk along the River Clyde. The aim of RCFMS was to identify flood risk from the River Clyde within the City and beyond and to develop design solutions within Glasgow. The results of this study will play a fundamental role in supporting the regeneration of the River Clyde waterfront and demonstrates the Council’s commitment to delivering comprehensive flood defence and quay wall stability solutions in Glasgow.

Parsonage, MBE 8/1/2016 The following gives an idea of what the world was like at the end of the 1700’s, it tells of the foundation of the Glasgow Humane Society, of the Awards and Gifts given to the Society and of some of the main occurrences in its development. 1. The Glasgow Humane Society and Enlightenment: The Spirit of an Age The Glasgow Humane Society was set up by members of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow at some point in the 1790s. This period marked the latter stages of what has been came to be termed as the ‘Enlightenment’ or ‘Enlightenment movement’ by historians and other scholars alike. It is notable for many features but for the Glasgow Humane Society’s purpose it can be seen as a time when the influence of scholars and philosophers such as Descartes, Newton, Kant, Goethe, Voltaire, Rousseau, and Adam Smith – to name but a few – created in Europe a temperament in man for reason and self- improvement and moving away from religious intolerance and ignorance.     Clyde Waterfront Clyde Waterfront is the biggest regeneration project ever undertaken in Scotland. It brings together public and private sectors to rejuvenate 20km of the city alongside the River Clyde, from central Glasgow westwards past the towns of Clydebank, Renfrew and Erskine to Dumbarton. The initiative started in 2003 following the publication of an OECD report, ‘Urban Renaissance: Glasgow’, which recognised that the river Clyde area and its environs represent the city’s main under-utilised assets: people, land and buildings.1 Around 250 individual projects fall under the umbrella of Clyde Waterfront. Currently approximately one third of these are completed, one third is at the planning stage, and the other third are underway. The overarching Clyde Waterfront Regeneration Initiative (CWRI) seeks to develop a vibrant and thriving area around the River Clyde, with people and communities at its heart. The regeneration is based on the four themes of economy, place, people and connectivity. Two interlinked projects have been selected to illustrate best practice from Clyde Waterfront: NHS South Glasgow Hospital campus (NSGH): this will comprise a 1,109-bed adult hospital and 256-bed children's hospital with maternity services, able to treat 725,000 patients a year. Due for completion in 2015, it will be the biggest hospital in the UK. Fastlink: this is a transport project, promoting rapid transit ’tram on tyres’ energy efficient buses. The new routes will improve the connection of the city centre with areas that are difficult to access by public transport. The core route will connect the city centre to the SECC and Govan (NHS South Glasgow Hospital campus).
