And epic journeys must end with a destination….the definitive epic event of the year, the Marijuana Business Conference & Expo. I truly believe that well-executed tradeshows are critical to the health of any industry. It is people, not companies, who do business. The convergence of an industry’s members at a set destination for intense face-to-face interactions catalyzes commerce – commerce critical to the success of the companies that in turn create jobs, fund change, pay taxes and drive profits. Tradeshows create a forum for the exchange of ideas, best practices, innovation and leadership to move an industry forward. I have heard people say of the cannabis industry: “There’s an event every week!” and that they suffer from “tradeshow fatigue.” Undoubtedly, the competition in cannabis events is as fierce as in every channel of the industry. However, many of these events come up short of the big promises they make: the most important, the largest, the only place the cannabis industry does business. Others claim to be business-only, yet market to consumers on billboards and bus stops in an attempt to fill the hall. Marketing claims are easy. Delivering results takes hard work, integrity and a commitment to your customers’ success before claiming your own. Bottom line: There can only be one must-attend event. And you, the industry, have made it clear that the Marijuana Business Conference & Expo is the industry’s tradeshow. This year’s fifth annual event will host more attendees and exhibitors than any other cannabis business event held. Ever. Over the coming three days, the halls of MJBizCon will see more deals done, products launched, partnerships forged and capital invested than at any other time of the year. We thank you for the trust you put in Marijuana Business Daily’s editorial team, which curates the world-class programming at this event. We thank you for making the Marijuana Business Conference & Expo the fastest-growing tradeshow

Nguyen1,2 · Kevin M. Creehan1,2 · Mehrak Javadi‑Paydar1 · Yanabel Grant1,2 · Michael A. Tafe1,2 Received: 27 April 2021 / Accepted: 27 May 2021 © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2021 Abstract Rationale Opioids are efective medications, but they have several key limitations including the development of tolerance, establishment of dependence, diversion for non-medical use, and the development of addiction. Therefore, any drugs which act in an additive or synergistic fashion with opioids to address medical applications have the potential to reduce opioid- related harms. Objectives To determine if heroin and Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) interact in an additive or independent manner to alter nociception, body temperature, and spontaneous locomotor activity when inhaled or injected. Methods Groups of female and male rats, implanted with radiotelemetry transmitters, were exposed to vapor generated from heroin (50 mg/mL in propylene glycol vehicle; PG), THC (50 mg/mL), or the combination for assessment of efects on temperature and activity. Thermal nociception was assessed with a warm water tail-withdrawal assay. Results Heroin inhalation increased temperature and activity whereas THC inhalation decreased temperature and activity in both female and male Sprague–Dawley rats. Efects of combined inhalation were in opposition, and additional experiments found the same outcome for the injection of heroin (0.5 mg/kg, s.c.) and THC (10 mg/kg, i.p.) alone and in combination.

Brooks Gentry*1, Lynn Webster2, Keith Ward1, Misty Stevens1 1InterveXion Therapeutics, LLC; University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, 2PRA Health Sciences Drug Category Stimulants Topic Substance Use Disorder Abstract Detail Human Abstract Category Original Research Aim: IXT-m200 is a high-affinity, anti-methamphetamine (METH) antibody. The aim of this study was to determine the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics (PK) of single IV doses of IXT-m200 followed by weekly IV METH challenges in subjects with METH use disorders. The impacts of IXT-m200 on METH PK and on METH effects as measured by drug effects questionnaires (DEQ) were determined. Methods: This was a parallel-group, placebo-controlled, double-blind study in otherwise healthy, non-treatment seeking participants. Subjects were required to discriminate METH (30 mg, IV) from placebo with DEQ to qualify. Those who qualified received single doses of IXT-m200 (6 or 20 mg/kg) or placebo followed by weekly METH challenges for up to 4 weeks. The challenges consisted of METH (30 mg, IV) and placebo, separated by 4 hr. Safety, METH and IXT-m200 PK, and DEQ data were collected for up to 126 days. Results: 56 subjects were included in the pharmacokinetic and safety sets, with 20 receiving the IXT-m200 placebo, 18 receiving 6 mg/kg and 18 receiving 20 mg/kg IXT-m200.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Co-occurrence of e-cigarette use and alcohol consumption during adolescence is frequent. However, little is known about their long-lasting effects when combined. Here, we examined whether adolescent co-exposure to alcohol drinking and vapourized nicotine would impact reward- and cognition-related behaviours in adult male and female rats during adulthood. Methods: Four groups of male and female Sprague Dawley rats (n=8-11/group/sex) received either nicotine (JUUL 5% nicotine pods) or vehicle vapour daily between postnatal days 30-46, while having continuous voluntary access to ethanol and water during this time in a two-bottle preference design.

  • The Newface of Big Tobacco
The new face of Big Tobacco Say NO to Big Marijuana in New Zealand. Don’t Legalise. BRIEFING FOR FAMILIES First Edition February 2019 The new face An Important Resource For Familiesof Big Tobacco Same corporates. WE’VE BEEN SUCKED IN ONCE. Same objectives. Remember Big Tobacco? Tobacco companies lied to New Zealanders Same addiction. and the world for more than a century about the dangers of smoking. New product. They based their market on addiction. They deliberately targeted kids. They even had doctors promote cigarettes as medicine. And today we are paying the price. The conversation is now being dictated by Big Marijuana, who will deny evidence-based science, and will minimise harms by emphasising the economic benefits of large tax revenues. Sound familiar? Ultimately, they’re not in it for the health of your family – Image Source: tobacco.stanford.edu they’re in it to make big money. But people should always come before profits. Because of the lobbying of pro-drug advocates such as the Drug Foundation and the Green Party - and the coalition agreement between Labour, Greens and NZ First made after the last Election - we will be voting on legalising marijuana at the next General Election in 2020 (around September). We know that if marijuana is legalised, a commercial marijuana industry will act just as the tobacco industry acts – irrespective of any ‘regulations’. Today’s highly potent marijuana represents a growing and significant threat to public health and safety, a threat that is amplified by a new marijuana industry intent on profiting from heavy use.
