Fresh Kills Park Directions Driving Directions to the Eltingville Transit Center From Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens: Make your way to the Eastbound Gowanus Expressway. Follow signs for the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Stay to the left after paying toll and follow signs for New Jersey. You are now on the Staten Island Expressway (278). Take the SI Expressway (278) to the Richmond Ave exit. Turn right onto Richmond Ave. Continue south on Richmond Ave past the Staten Island Mall to Arthur Kill Rd. The Eltingville Transit Center/Park & Ride lot is on the other side of Arthur Kill Rd, behind the bus station, on the right hand side. From NJ: Take the Outerbridge Crossing to the Korean War Veterans Parkway (RT 909C) to the last exit (Richmond Ave) look for the park & ride sign and the Eltingville Transit Center. Public Transportation Directions to the Eltingville Transit Center From Manhattan: FERRY AND BUS Take the Staten Island Ferry at the Whitehall Street station to the S74 bus. On Saturdays, the ferry runs every half-hour. For SI Ferry schedule information call (718)815BOAT or go to http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/pdf/statferyschnov06.pdf. The ferry ride takes approximately 30 minutes. When you arrive at St. George Terminal on Staten Island, follow signage for Ramp B and the S74 bus. Report D New York City Transit SERVICE CHANGES: NYC TRANSIT COMMITTEE NOTIFICATION MTA BUS OPERATIONS COMMITTEE NOTIFICATION: IMPLEMENT S79 SELECT BUS SERVICE ON HYLAN BOULEVARD Service Issue S79 service currently carries approximately 8,800 passengers on an average weekday making it the second busiest route on Staten Island. The area it serves has nearly 100,000 residents within Y.t mile, and the route travels via Hylan Boulevard, the busiest bus corridor on Staten Island. Hylan Boulevard is the fourth of the first phase of corridors converted from conventional bus service to Select Bus Service. The Select Bus Service components on Hylan Boulevard, induding bus lanes, pedestrian improvements and traffic signal improvements, benefit not just S79 buses, but all buses on the corridor. Recommendation Implement Select Bus Service on Hylan Boulevard. This service, which will be called S79 Select Bus Service (SBS), will replace S79 local service. Local service will continue to be provided on Richmond Avenue by the S59 and on Hylan Boulevard by the S78. In combination, this package of service improvements will result in 20% faster travel time, up to 15 minutes, for S79 customers. Budget Impact Implementation of S79 SBS on Rylan Boulevard will result in increased annual bus operating costs of $300,000. Much of this increase in service will be dedicated to ensuring that local bus frequencies on the S59 and S78 will meet NYCT service guidelines along Richmond Avenue and Bylan Boulevard once the S79 SBS is implemented. It should be noted that the level of S78 and S59 service currently operated accurately meets current customer demand. -
