WA State Talent Manager Adam Jones congratulated all of the players selected and their schools and clubs for the effort in preparing for the National Championships. “We feel that the squad will be extremely competitive heading into the National Championships,” Jones said. “The players have had perfect preparation in the WAFL Colts and PSA systems to start the season and it was challenging to narrow the squad down for the next phase of the program. “After the disappointment of missing out on a Championships last year, there is a real sense of excitement around the next two months.” “Marc Webb comes into the program as Head Coach and will be well supported by a number of experienced assistants.” Webb will lead the group for the first time in 2021 after replacing outgoing coach Peter Sumich at the beginning of the season. Beau McDonald, Ben Dyer, Michael Johnson and Ryan Lasscock will be assistant coaches. u Jacob van Rooyen 2 3 COLLECTABLES by Sean Cowan During 2021, the Football Budget will again feature a section on WAFL memorabilia and invites you to write or email if you want more information about the football collectables you have tucked away at home. Still, memorabilia from North Fremantle’s time in the WAFL rarely turns up. The other thing I really love is when Football Budget readers write in and help me to solve a mystery. In last week’s column, I wrote for the first time about a set of eight masonite figures (one for each WAFL club) which probably date to about 1980. They looked like the Life Be In It campaign character, Norm, and depicted football followers in a particularly unflattering light, If you have a query regarding WAFL memorabilia, send photographs and/or details to Sean at [email protected] or Sean Cowan, PO Box 8352, Perth BC, WA 6849.
