NDTV's charged with laundering ₹642 crore: NDTV founder Prannoy Roy on Saturday was charged with tax evasion and money laundering of ₹642 crore from 2007-08 to 2009-10 by the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. The then Ministry of Corporate Affairs had helped the NDTV owners in hiding financial information of the foreign shell companies that were used for money laundering, the tribunal said. HC asks CBFC board members to head to Kerala for film certification: A Kerala high court decision has ensured that the board members of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will have to fly down to Thiruvananthpuram to watch Jayan Cherian’s Ka Bodyscapes, a film that has been denied certification on grounds that it “glorifies homosexuality” and abusive language. The court has also directed Pahlaj Nihalani-headed CBFC to give the reasons for denying the film certification in writing, should it choose do so. Minister files defamation suit against Arnab, : Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George has filed a criminal defamation suit against former Times Now Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami and the channel. The minister accused Arnab for making statements that "insinuate KJ George having a vested interest in DK Ravi’s death" in March 2015. No smoking and drinking in films if you want U/A certificate, says Pahlaj Nihalani: CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani has asked filmmakers not to include smoking or drinking sequences in their films if they want a U/A certificate for the same. In case showing alcohol is unavoidable, he suggests filmmakers to opt for ‘A’ certificate instead. “Merely putting a ticker warning at some remote corner of the screen whenever there is smoking or drinking shown, is not enough anymore. We feel the superstars who are followed by millions and who set an example in societal behaviour must not be shown drinking or smoking on screen unless the provocation for doing so is really strong,” he was quoted saying.
