The township embraces the following villages and hamlets, viz.: Bradfield, 7 miles N.W. by W.; and , 8 miles N.W.; , 7t miles N.W.; IJungwO'T'th, Storrs, and , from [) to 7 miles N.W. by W.; Midlwpe, 10 miles N.W. ; Oughtihridge, () miles N.W. by N.; , 41 miles N.N.W.; and Loxley, () miles N.W.; Brighthotmlee, Onesacre, Smalfjield, Moorwood, , &c., from 7 to 9 miles N.W. by W.; and Wigtwizzte, 10 miles N.W. of . Ithad 11,252 inhabitants in 1871, and comprises 38,425 acres, including 56 acres of water. This extensive parochial chapelry is in the Duke of Norfolk manors of Bradfield and Westhall and Waldershelf. The great flood of March, 1864, occasioned by the bursting of the Dale Dyke Reservoir, just completed by the Sheffield Water Works Company, caused great devastation in the Loxlcy Valley. HUADFIELD CHURCH is coeval with that of Ecclesfield, and a work of restoration was commenced in 1871, since which time £3000 has been spent o.er the fabric and stained ~'lass windows. The rectory house was built in 1857 by subscription and a loan from Queen Anne's Bounty. A large wing has been added by the present rector. The living is a rectory, "alued at £200, in the patronage of the ,"icar of E 'clesfield, and incumbency of his son, the Rev. Reginald Gatty, LL.B. At is a NA.TIONA.L SCHOOL, built by Mrs Rimington in 1846. The ENDOWED SenooL at Low Bradfie1d was washed away by the Flood in 1864, and was rebuilt by the Water Company. Lichfiold diocese, Dorby archdeaconry, and Castleton rural deanery. Bradwell village is 2k miles S.E. of Castleton, 4i miles N.E. of Tideswell, and 12 mil{)6 S.W. of Sheffield. Its township had 1141 inhabitants in 1871, and extends over about 2300 acres of land, rising in fertile hills, noted for rich herbage, and peculiarly adapted for young horses, of which great numbers are sent here from various parts of the county. Bradwell district chapelry, which was con­ stituted by order in Council dated August :l, 1875, consists of the townships of Bradwell, Abney, Hazlebadge, Great and Little Hucklow, Grindlow, and a portion of Wardlow, and has a population of 1853. Many of the inhabitants are miners, and veinll of lead ore, running- from east to west, are worked at the distance of three miles from the village, where there are three cupoills for smelting it. Bradwell Dale is a romantic chasm, with high rocks and precipitous cliffs, extending to Hazlebadge. Near the Bath Tavern are two saline springs, only a few degrees lower in temperature than the Buxton spa water. A large natural cavern, called Bagshaw's, or the Crystallized Cavern. was discovered near Bradwell, in 1807. Its stalactites are of peculiar elegance, and it extends through oumeroua
