  • E15 HR NIN the WINTER USE of SUMMER STRATEGY The
E15 HR NIN THE WINTER USE OF SUMMER STRATEGY The morphology of the terrain on which the town-island formed in the shallow lagoon contributes to the unusual imagery and distinguishes Nin as a town with one of the three salt ponds on the eastern Adriatic coast that have been in operation since ancient times. The rich historical heritage, the proximity of large tourist resorts and the city of Zadar, resulted in the fact that the population of Nin (2,750 inhabitants in winter) explodes fivefold in the summer months (14,000 in the summer), which is a record number in Croatia. Providing only seasonal accommodation facilities, as a support to 'tourist' environment (natural and cultural sights, beaches ...) creates a monofunctional housing ghetto within the city area. In the winter when the surrounding activators disappear and tourists leave, these parts of the city turn into dormitories. Small towns (villages) do not have urban power or social potential to resist the six months of hibernation. Summer modes of community motivated by profit completely disappear in winter. But small towns can be an appropriate place to explore and plan different sustainability models that we can call the winter use of summer strategy. NIN / LOCATION / HISTORICAL AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT The City of Nin is situated in the lowest and flattest part of agricurtural area between the mountains of Velebit, the Krka River and the sea (the most fertile part of Dalmatia, located in the hinterland of Zadar). The geography of the surrounding area of Nin is characterized by alteration of limestone karst and alluvial deposit, resulting in fertile agricultural land.

  • Metal Processing Industry (Automotive Components Industry)
Metal Processing Industry (Automotive components industry) Introduction The manufacturing of basic metals and fabricated metal goods has a long tradition in Croatia. Much of the basic metals industry is owned by state funds and banks, whereas private ownership dominates in the manufacture of fabricated metal products. Domestic companies' financial potential in this branch is limited, increased foreign investment of all types is both needed and expected. There are four machine engineering and three electrical engineering faculties in Croatia which are (colleges) annually producing some 1.000 graduates in the fields of engineering and information technology. Supported by the technology centres of the engineering faculties at the Universities of Zagreb, Rijeka and Split, these experts have the opportunity to develop attractive, entrepreneurial focused manufacturing programmes. The number of companies possessing ISO 9000 certificates is growing, which is one of the conditions for co- operation and export to industrially developed countries, and also for establishing subcontractor and strategic partnership, especially with domestic manufacturers of machines and equipment. Companies, which produce machines, appliances and vehicles, actively participate every year in many specialized fairs within Zagreb Fair. The Croatian Chamber of Economics organises national joint attendance of their members on both domestic and international fairs depending on the interest of their members. Prior to Croatian independence Zadar with its companies SAS and BAGAT stood out in this sector on the level of former Yugoslavia. These companies employed a large number of people and operated with customers from Germany to Russia. Key success factors for automotive component suppliers The relationship between OEMs (Original equipment manufacturers) and suppliers has undergone a fundamental change since the 1980s.

VRSI POD TALIJANSKOM OKUPACIJOM U DRUGOM SVJETSKOM RATU Marjan DIKLIĆ UDK 323.13(497.5"1939/1945"- Zadar) Vrsi Zavod za povijesne znanosti HAZU u Zadru Stručni rad Primljeno: 30. X. 2006. U ovom opsežnijem radu najprije se govori o početku Drugoga svjetskog rata, komadanju Kraljevine Jugoslavije i talijanskoj okupaciji jadranskih dijelova Hrvatske, a posebice o okupaciji i aneksiji sjeverne Dalmacije, općine Nin i sela Vrsi. Slijedi podrobnija rasprava o ustaško-domobranskoj i antifašističko- partizanskoj skupini u Vrsima, prvom partizanu u spomenutom mjestu, ubojstvu glavara sela Milana Božića i Krše Maraša, uhićenju glavnog organizatora ustanka Rafaela Božića i njegove obitelji, internaciji i strijeljanju mjesnog prvaka HSS-a Marka Velčića, osnutku i djelovanju Mjesnog NOO-a i organizacije KP-e Vrsi. – ujedinjenjem Primorske i Savske Banovine s kotarevima Šid, Ilok, Brčko, Gradačac, Derventa, Travnik, Fojnica i Dubrovnik te većega dijela Hercegovine s gradovima: Mostarom, Neumom, Stolcem, Livnom, Kupresom, Ramom, Konjicem i Bugojnom – bila stvorena Banovina Hrvatska s velikom autonomijom, Saborom, Vladom i banom, dr.
