SPECIAL AWARD CLASSES In numerically small breeds such as ours, it is not easy for judges to gain the hands on experience they require to progress up the judging lists. For this reason, the Kennel Club have authorised the scheduling of two Special Award Classes at this show. In essence, these are “mock” classes to allow a judge from the Club’s B or C Judges List the opportunity to gain more hands on experience of our breed. These classes will be judged at the beginning of the Show along with the Junior Handling. They are totally separate from the main show, and do not affect any results in the main show. A dog beaten in these classes is NOT considered a beaten dog for the purpose of the challenge for best dog or bitch. There is no entry fee for these classes. There is a £5.00 prize for First Place in each class. Rosettes will be on offer for 1st place to VHC. Any dogs entered in these classes MUST be entered in a class in the main show. It is important for the Club to support any initiatives which assist in the development of good judges, so PLEASE SUPPORT THESE CLASSES. PROFILE OF OUR JUDGES Mr Martin Phillips (Jaeva) I hope that I am known to most of my fellow Norfolk Terrier exhibitors and NTCGB Club members, but very briefly - I have been involved in dogs for over 40 years; I have bred or owned over 100 UK champions in 7 breeds (Norfolk Terrier, , , Sealyham Terrier, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Flat Coated Retriever and St Bernard). I am qualified to judge the Terrier Group as well as awarding CCs in breeds in other groups, St Bernard and Flat Coated Retriever to name but two. I have also recently been approved to judge Best in Show at All-Breeds General Championship Shows. Norfolk and Norwich Terriers however remain my passion and I am delighted to be judging the Norfolk Terrier Club of GB Championship Show this year as part of the weekend of celebrations for the 25 th Anniversary of the Midland Counties Norfolk Terrier Association. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Mrs Nicky Graves (Pipsacre) Like a lot of judges I can't remember a time when we didn't have dogs as a child. I went to my first at the age of eleven, and started out with a Standard Poodle. In the eighties, I started showing Border under the Hawesmere affix, breeding Our Dogs & Pedigree’s Top Winning Border Puppy in 1988. We also bred a Multi- national Champion in Belgium, as well as CC and RCC winners who went on to sire Champions themselves. In 2005, I purchased my first Norfolk Terrier. I had already joined the Norfolk Terrier Club before I got my puppy and have been a member ever since. I have bred several litters and all my Norfolks can trace their lines back to my original bitch. I feel honoured to have been asked to do the two special classes and the junior handling classes. So thank you, I am really looking forward to it.

Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 15. It is not acceptable to handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. Exhibitors should note that such practices could constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 16. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 17. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 18. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. 19. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 20. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 21. No puppies under 4 calendar months of age are allowed within the precincts of the Show. 22. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

TRADE STANDS: The committee can accept no responsibility for products advertised or sold by stand holders at the Show and wish to remind exhibitors that grooming products on sale may not meet the requirements of the Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

EXERCISE AREA: An Exercise Area will be provided. Exhibitors/handlers are required to clear up any fouling by the dog in their charge.
