Police Powers in the COVID-19 Context
Police powers in the COVID-19 context This guidance note has been written by Ashley Chrystall, Wellington Community Justice Project, and covers information relating to making reports during the COVID-19 lockdown, police powers to enter your home and to stop you while you are outside or on the road, as well as powers of arrest. Making reports How do I report lockdown breaches? To report an individual or business breaching any of the current alert level restrictions, you can fill out the form on the Police website. If you have concerns regarding people who are not self-isolating when they should be, you can email the dedicated Ministry of Health email address. What can the police do if I report breaches during the COVID-19 lockdown? The police will educate anyone breaking lockdown rules and can enforce these rules if necessary (discussed below). Police will be patrolling streets with a focus on maintaining law and order and preventing harm. They will deal appropriately with anyone attempting to exploit the restrictions in place. During the lockdown, police have special powers available under various pieces of legislation, including the Health Act 1956, the Summary Offences Act 1981, and the Civil Defence Emergency Act 2002. Breach consequences include warnings through to prosecutions if necessary. If I see someone breaking the COVID-19 lockdown rules, should I handle it myself? If it is safe to do so, police advise having a polite conversation with the individual/s breaching lockdown restrictions, at a two metre distance, in the first instance. The best way to handle a breach of the COVID-19 lockdown is to contact the authorities and inform them of any breaches. -
House Md Season 2 Episode 2 Autopsy
House md Season 2 episode 2 Autopsy This episode is all about what make life worth living even in the face of death Synopsis Andy is a nine year old girl with terminal cancer. She is seen at the beginning of the episode singing Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful as she puts on a wig and smiles at herself in the mirror. But she has a frightening hallucination and has to go to hospital where she becomes Dr House’s patient. Dr House is not just bothered about her condition but about why she is so brave, helping her mother cope with the worry and fears about her illness and comforting her. Dr House doesn’t believe that a nine year old can be that brave and thinks it’s a symptom of disease. During one procedure where Dr Chase is performing the tests, Andy says she has never kissed a boy and wonders what it would be like. Dr Chase says there is plenty of time for that, but Andy says she may die without ever having experienced kissing a boy. She asks Dr Chase to kiss her. Dr Chase says no at first, but changes his mind and kisses her gently on the lips. Back in the office, the team speculate whether Andy has ever been sexually molested which Dr Chase denies saying that he believed her when she said she’d never been kissed. Dr House is cynical and says she’s learned how to manipulate people from being abused then correctly guesses that Dr Chase kissed her when she asked. -

When we looked up the meaning in Hebrews it means “my God is an oath.” Kenzie grade 3 My Guardian Angel doesn't look like someone I know. Her name is Angel Clarisse. My Guardian Angel has helped me many times when I am not sure what to do. For example, she helped me once when one classmate was left alone and no one wanted to play with her because she was new. I wasn't sure I wanted to play with her because my friends were waiting to play with me on the other side of the playground. But I thought it wouldn't be nice to leave my classmate alone so I invited her to play with us, and she was so happy! I felt really good too. -

Page 26.828.1 Page c American Society for Engineering Education, 2015 Guardian Angels of Our Better Nature: Finding Evidence of the Benefits of Design Thinking INTRODUCTION In the field of engineering education and beyond, there is a widespread and growing belief in the importance of teaching the disciplinary practices of engineering design, i.e., “design thinking”. Many have attempted to teach design thinking in the service of learning content, especially in math and science1; others have emphasized its importance for training future designers and engineers2. Despite the energy and enthusiasm of proponents, there has been relatively little research conducted on (1) whether design thinking is teachable, i.e. whether students will apply it somewhere else besides the immediate context, and (2) whether design thinking is beneficial for learning in these new contexts. In our view, one of the most important features of design thinking is that, similar to the scientific method, it invites a focus on ways of thinking that can protect against common pitfalls when learning, solving problems, or doing creative work. -
It Reveals Who I Really Am”: New Metaphors, Symbols, and Motifs in Representations of Autism Spectrum Disorders in Popular Culture
“IT REVEALS WHO I REALLY AM”: NEW METAPHORS, SYMBOLS, AND MOTIFS IN REPRESENTATIONS OF AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS IN POPULAR CULTURE By Summer Joy O’Neal A Dissertation Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English Middle Tennessee State University 2013 Dissertation Committee: Dr. Angela Hague, Chair Dr. David Lavery Dr. Robert Petersen Copyright © 2013 Summer Joy O’Neal ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS There simply is not enough thanks to thank my family, my faithful parents, T. Brian and Pamela O’Neal, and my understanding sisters, Auburn and Taffeta, for their lifelong support; without their love, belief in my strengths, patience with my struggles, and encouragement, I would not be in this position today. I am forever grateful to my wonderful director, Dr. Angela Hague, whose commitment to this project went above and beyond what I deserved to expect. To the rest of my committee, Dr. David Lavery and Dr. Robert Petersen, for their seasoned advice and willingness to participate, I am also indebted. Beyond these, I would like to recognize some “unofficial” members of my committee, including Dr. Elyce Helford, Dr. Alicia Broderick, Ari Ne’eman, Chris Foss, and Melanie Yergau, who graciously offered me necessary guidance and insightful advice for this project, particularly in the field of Disability Studies. Yet most of all, Ephesians 3.20-21. iii ABSTRACT Autism has been sensationalized by the media because of the disorder’s purported prevalence: Diagnoses of this condition that was traditionally considered to be quite rare have radically increased in recent years, and an analogous fascination with autism has emerged in the field of popular culture.
