BRISBANE CYCLING FESTIVAL Get ready for the ride of your life when the Brisbane Cycling Festival rolls back into Brisbane from 12 March - 5 April 2020. The festival will get everyone pumped with professional, junior, mass participation and spectator events that are celebrated at the Anna Meares Velodrome (purpose built for the 2018 Commonwealth Games) and iconic Brisbane landmarks such as South Bank, Mount Coot-tha, the Story Bridge and many more. In 2020, the Brisbane Cycling Festival will host three spectacular major cycling events across three action-packed weeks: The festival kicks off with Cycling Australia Track National Championships between 12-29 March 2020, showcasing the country’s best track cyclists across Junior, Elite and Masters divisions. The Six Day Final returns to Brisbane for the second time between 3-5 April 2020, combining some of the world’s best track cyclists with an energetic party atmosphere unlike anything you’ve seen before. Cannibalizing: Taking any part or component from one bicycle to repair another, or to improve the result of another. Category: An ability-based designation for riders. Riders in the same age class may race in groups based on ability category. Class: An age-based designation, such as junior, U23, Elite, or master. Club Ride: A training ride open only to members of bicycle clubs that are members of USA Cycling or a race that is open only to members of one such club and any participant who holds a USA Cycling racing license must be licensed as a member of that club. Combined Division Race: A race in which riders from both divisions compete. Criterium: A road event held on a small course entirely closed to traffic. The length of the course is between 800 m and 5 km. The minimum width throughout the course should be 7 m. Cross Country: A massed-start competition that is held on a circuit course comprising forest roads, forest or field trails, and unpaved dirt or gravel roads.

When doing pursuits or time trials, use this line as a guide. ¨ The red “sprinter’s line” defines the border of the sprint lane. The leading rider in this lane is said to “own the lane” and may only be passed by a rider going over on the right. NO PASSING BELOW RIDERS IN THE SPRINTERS LANE. Additionally once a sprint is engaged, a racer who is leading and in the sprinter’s lane can not leave it. ¨ The uppermost blue line is the “stayer’s line” or the relief line. See section 7J for specific differences between National Championships and State Championships 7A. Organization 7A1. The rights to organize National Championships may be awarded to local Race Directors who meet the requirements established by the CEO. 7A2. Massed start races with fewer than 10 participants may be combined with another category at the discretion of USA Cycling and the Chief Referee with riders being scored separately at the end of the event. 7A3. In National Championship events, the defending National Champion (in that event) shall be given highest priority in call-ups except if the event is run under UCI rules. In track events where heats are required, the defending National Champion must compete in the heats. 7A4. Para-cycling National Championships for cyclists with disabilities may be held in conjunction with other national championships. Classifications of para-cycling riders and regulations of competition will follow the Functional Classification System outlined by the UCI. 7B. National Championship Eligibility 7B1. National Championships are open only to riders who hold USA Cycling rider annual licenses or recognized license from a UCI affiliated federation, and meet other qualifications stated in these rules. (a) National Championships for Junior 17-18, Under 23, and Elites may only be entered by US Citizens with a USA racing nationality.     CU Cycling New Rider Handbook Cycling at the University of Colorado Boulder has a long history of success. Since 1988, the year of the first Collegiate National Championships, University of Colorado Boulder has produced over 65 individual National Champions and taken home 12 Team Event National titles (Road Team Time Trial and Track Team Pursuit). Additionally, we have won the Overall Team Omnium at 12 National Championships. Many University of Colorado Boulder racers have gone on to the professional ranks after graduation and achieved success at the highest level of the sport. While competition-level at the National Championships is between the elite racers on the team, conference competition is all about team participation with riders at every level contributing to the team's success. The University of Colorado Boulder is a powerhouse in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference, consistently battling cross-state rival Fort Lewis College for top honors. While performance and results are important, the team actively encourages each member to reach their potential and to be their best in the University of Colorado Boulder's extraordinary range of challenging academic and extra-curricular opportunities.
