ONLINE PROGRAMME FA CUP 3RD QF ROUND TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2020 WIMBORNE TOWN FC VS MAIDSTONE UNITED From the Directors Box Good evening and a warm welcome to Cuthbury to our visitors from Maid- stone United. We extend our hospitality to the visiting officials. players, staff and supporters and hope that you enjoy your time with us and have a safe journey home. Tonight, we play Maidstone United who are in the National League South which one level above us. They are in fifth position in their league after they drew on Saturday against Havant and Waterlooville. This is the furthest we have been in the F.A. Cup for 28 years, so with the great supporters we have cheering us on let us see if we can progress further! Last Tuesday we played Farnborough and with a good overall performance the second half saw us secure 2 goals giving us a 2-1 win giving us a well-earned 3 points. Our man of the match was Aidan Shepherd who was our double goal scorer. Well done Aidan! So hopefully the boys can turn in a good performance again as they did for that game. We did not have a game on Saturday so after a good break let us look forward to a good entertaining game against this higher league side. With a bigger crowd expected for this match please remember all the safety guidelines in place and be extra cautious in keeping your distance and wear masks when moving around. It is with great sadness that we announce that Steve Harvey ex-chairman of Hamworthy United F.C.

  • The Community Impact of Football Pitches: a Case Study of Maidstone United FC
The community impact of football pitches: a case study of Maidstone United FC Anthony May & Daniel Parnell ABSTRACT The use of third-generation artificial grass pitches (AGPs) is growing in English semi-professional football. As usage grows, research into the impact of AGPs is needed, in order to examine the potential impact of such surfaces for a football club and local community. This article analyses the experiences of National League South club Maidstone United through a detailed case study. The club have installed an AGP at their stadium and are able to utilize it for up to 80 hours a week. All the club’s 45 teams are able to train and play on the AGP, and other local sport clubs have hired it, arguably increasing Public Health opportunities. This means that youth teams, first team club players and community participants alike have access to a high-quality playing surface. This has raised the club’s profile in the local community and increased income generation, supporting the financial sustainability of the club. Introduction The use of third generation Artificial Grass Pitches (AGPs) for competitive football matches and training has become increasingly common over the last decade. This is particularly the case in Western Europe and Scandinavia, where pitches can be adversely affected by weather conditions and regular use (up to three matches per week) and clubs have looked for an alternative to natural surfaces. Football clubs have chosen to install AGPs at their training facilities and stadia because they are durable and usable in extreme meteorological conditions, as discussed by Andersson, Ekblom, and Krustrup (2008), Bjorneboe, Bahr, and Andersen (2010) and Almutawa et al.

  • Maidstone United Commercial Brochure 2017/18
MAIDSTONE UNITED ADVERTISING AND SPONSORSHIP: 2017/18 SEASON welcome This summer Maidstone United Football Club celebrate five years at the Gallagher Stadium. Since the long awaited homecoming, the club have enjoyed three promotions in four years to make it to the Vanarama National League – the top flight of the non-league game. The home of the Stones is firmly established as one of the county town’s top attractions, welcoming thousands of people every year. One of the most popular leisure and sporting venues locally, the Gallagher is open seven days a week – thanks to the artificial turf pitch which enables hundreds to play at the stadium each and every week. Growing the gallagher Maidstone United is one of the best-supported clubs in non-league football. Average attendances have risen year-on-year since the club returned to the town. During the 2016/17 season attendances were around 3,000 on several occasions and the final match of the season saw a record attendance of 3,409. To meet the demands of higher crowds and leagues, the stadium’s capacity has almost doubled since 2012. The most recent investment saw the development of a new north stand, which can accommodate up to 1,768 spectators. Matchball sponsorship Maidstone United are offering matchball sponsorship for home games during the 2017/18 season. The package includes the following benefits: • Car parking for one car • Reserved padded seats in the boardroom • Pre-match buffet in the Gullands VP Lounge • Complimentary bar • Signed match ball • Photo with a director on the pitch • ½ page advert in the programme For four guests £600+VAT Match mascot Being a mascot for a day is one of Maidstone United’s most sought after packages.

On Saturday we fought out a 2-2 draw, on paper a decent result, but we were 2-0 up within the first quarter of an hour. Quick goals from Joe Reeves and Ryan Philpott made it look like we would break our 25 year hoodoo of not winning our opening game of the season away from home, but not to be. The downside to the result was the sending off of both Reeves and Charlie Walsh which means they will both miss our game this coming Saturday against Crowborough, and also at least the following game.

Getting To Football 2021-22 August 2021 Edition Andy Edwards Andy Edwards 17 Catherine Street Rochester Kent ME1 2HJ [email protected] Most of the content of this work is in the public domain. The remainder of the content, and the presentation of the information, is © Andy Edwards 2021. The cover image is © Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum 2019. Introduction Welcome back to Getting To Football! When I put out the last edition in March 2020, little did I know that it would be almost eighteen months before the next edition. As I write, there is reasonable confidence that football will be almost back to nornal in the 2021-22 season, although it certainly cannot be ruled out that this may change – and if there’s going to be a game, it remains the job of Getting To Football to get you there! For various reasons – mostly related either to procrastination or to cricket - this edition has been prepared with a shorter lead time than usual. This means that not all of the usual content is present; this edition covers only football in England from the Premier League down to Step 6, the top two levels of football in Northern Ireland, the top five levels in Scotland, and the top two levels in Wales. The lower levels in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will return in the October edition together with hockey and rugby union. Football in Ireland, Gaelic football, hurling, rugby league, and shinty play summer seasons and will return in good time for their 2022 seasons. In another minor change for this edition, I’ve turned the font size up a bit.

In this issue… All Saturday’s action Forthcoming fixtures Farewell to two Friends All the Weekend Action By Peter Butcher – Ryman League Communications Administrator Premier HE SAYS it will be his last season, and Wealdstone striker Richard Jolly looks in the mood to go out in style. Last season’s Golden Boot winner struck after 26 minutes of his side’s home opener against Met Police, intercepting a scuffed goal-kick by Police keeper Jamie Butler and firing home what proved to be the only goal of the game to get Stones’ title challenge off to a successful start. Lowestoft, beaten play-off finalists for the last two seasons, came from a goal down at half-time to chalk up an impressive 3-1 win at Whitehawk. The Brighton side, making their Premier debut, took an early lead with a penalty from summer signing Scott McGleish, veteran of 692 Football League games. McGleish went close to doubling the lead with a header but the Trawlerboys showed their class with three goals in eight minutes midway through the second half. Chris Henderson twice fired home from outside the box with Dale Cockrill netting in between them. Fancied Margate were comfortable 2-0 home winners over Hendon. Two new signings, Sam Long and Alex Rhodes, hit the bar in the early stages and it was the 65th minute before Richard Avery gave the hosts a deserved lead.

Herne Bay FC Supporters’ Update 39 – 24/02/2020 Week 39 which means it is nine months since the boardroom and management changes. Ben Smith told the Kentish Gazette: “If you had said at the start of the season we would be in the play-offs, I’m sure every single person at the club would have taken it. So, looking at the bigger picture - it’s hard when you are frustrated - but I think that’s certainly something myself and the rest of the club need to be doing. We have good characters in the changing room. Our average age is around 24 but, within that, there is an awful lot of experience. I have no questions about the character in the dressing room and one or two (bad) games doesn’t change the fact that I’m really proud of how far we have come this season.” Chris Saunders has joined SCEFL Hollands & Blair on dual registration. He was sent off (two yellow cards) on his debut, a 1-1- draw with Sheppey United. Tuesday 18/02/2020 Burgess Hill Town p/p Ramsgate Sevenoaks Town 1 Whitehawk p/p Chichester City Haywards Heath Town 2 Kent Senior Cup Quarter-Final Ashford United 1 Phoenix Sports 2 Three Bridges had just two wins and one draw from their last 10 league matches and this month they handed bottom side East Grinstead Town four of their season’s tally of 10 points. 13 places and 27 points behind Herne Bay, Bridges showed that they can be a dangerous team when they went 3-0 up at home to Bay in October only for the visitors to come back with five goals in the second half.
