Low to Full sun to Attracts Attracts Selection moderate water part shade butterflies hummingbirds from Texas Why we love it… Desert Willow is a gem of a requiring little care and gracing southwestern landscapes with year-round intrigue. It retains a charming, architectural winter silhouette when the tree is bare, and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies with its profusion of fragrant, orchid-like for the rest of the year.

As you might expect of a tree named ‘Bubba’, this is robust and sturdy. It boasts exceptional heat, drought, and cold tolerance, and it roots and grows quickly. Its linear leaves are wider and greener than those of other desert willow , which gives this tree a much fuller appearance. ‘Bubba’ also develops fewer pods than other cultivars, despite its long and extremely prolific blooming season. Flowers are burgundy from a distance, but closer inspection reveals a distinction between the dark pink top half, and a deep burgundy lower half, with bright yellow guidelines along its throat for pollinators.
