10.11 Grievance redressal mechanism for faculty, staff and students

• A complaint box/suggestion box is maintained for receiving the complaints in the reading room of the institute. One staff member is assigned the duty to draw the complaints from the box on timely basis and report it to the chair of the committee.

3 • Upon receipt of an ethics complaint or request for arbitration, a letter of acknowledgement will be sent to the complainant. Additionally, the respondent will be notified in writing and provided with a copy of the complaint. No response will be solicited from the Respondent, unless deemed necessary by the Grievance Committee or the assigned investigators. • The Grievance Committees chair shall assign two committee members to conduct a preliminary investigation of the complaint. • Investigators will not make direct contact with either the complainant or respondent. If deemed necessary, they will instruct staff to contact the parties in writing to obtain documentation or clarify statements. • The report of investigators will be submitted to the chair and the action taken by the Chair will be communicated to the complainant and respondent in the meeting. The signatures of both, complainant and respondent will be taken on the document. The decision of the chair will be final. Yearly Period of declaration of results June /July 10.18 Counseling/Mentoring Career Counseling: Third and Fourth Year B. Pharm students are regularly counseled from their career point of view by our faculty emphasizing the importance of different branches of pharmaceutical sciences in industry, research and development, quality control, manufacturing, marketing and management including academia. Seminars and lectures are arranged by calling professional counselors, expertise and proficiency bodies. Various overseas qualifying entrance test (TOFFEL, GRE, and ILETS) and Indian entrance test (GATE, CAT) training are arranged.

Medical facilities: A clinic for routine medical checkup, diagnosis & treatment with qualified residential medical staff available at the campus. The clinic is equipped with facilities (Ambulance, beds-40, OPD, Pharmacy and minor surgery) and free medication.

Students insurance: 1. STES insures all students every year under the Students Safety Insurance Policy through United India Insurance Co. Ltd. 2. Every year institute pays Rs. 02 per students to University of Pune towards Students Safety Insurance fees.

10.19 Students activity Body Cultural activities: Every year various cultural activities are carried out such as In house cultural competitions, Teacher’s day, fresher’s party, farewell programme, National Pharmacy Week celebration, cultural gathering i.e. Sinhgad Karandak, inter collegiate competition, Festival celebration viz Kojagiri Poornima, Navratri Utsav, Holi, Diwali etc. All students enthusiastically participate in all cultural activities.

Sports activities: Every year sport event “SYLOMPICS” is organized which involve various indoor and outdoor games including Cricket, football, Volleyball, Girls Cricket, athletics, Table tennis, & carom etc students also participate in various competitions organized at state and national level.

Literary activities: Languages learning, especially English is perused very vigorously. Besides, the importance of Indian heritage especially culture, art and philosophy lectures are organized occasionally and some time short documentary films on philosophy and cultures are shown in our amphitheatre. Few books on languages, geography, culture and history are kept in library for reference.

Magazine / Newsletter: Sinhgad Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences publishes every year our annual magazine “VEDH exploring minds”. The magazine covers the various curricular, co- curricular and extra-curricular activities carried out in the institute every year. Articles in the area of science and technology, arts, culture, sports, literature etc. are published in our annual magazine. “Vedh…….. Exploring minds” for the year 2008-09 won the first prize and won the second prize for the year 2009-10 of University of Pune.

Technical activities / TechFest: The institute is conducting student’s industrial visit to understand manufacturing process, technology and drug dosage-form preparation and manufacturing. The industrial pharmacy lab demonstrates the unit processes/operation of dosage form preparation and development, packaging technology and sterile filling technology. Some of the pharmacological experiments dealing with isolated tissues and organs have been replaced with computer simulated animal experiments. Library functions and activities are digitalized. Admission, accounts, examination, result analysis, students and staff data and store functions are all computerized using appropriate softwares.

Industrial Visits/Tours: B. Pharmacy Students visit to various Pharmaceutical industries to witness various manufacturing processes, quality control testing & marketing set up. Every student of 3 rd Year B. Pharmacy undergoes 4-6 week training in industry in different departments and gets a certificate from the respective organizations.
