CITIZEN CHARTER

The Tourism Department Haryana came into existence in the year 1966 when the State of Haryana was created as a separate State from joint Punjab. The office of the Tourism Department Haryana is located at SCO-17-19, Sector –17 B, . The primary function of the Tourism Department is to develop tourism infrastructure in the public sector and private sector. The development of tourism infrastructure in the public sector is done by way of funds received from the State Govt. in its annual/five year plans. In addition, the Tourism Department makes efforts to get maximum possible Central Financial Assistance from Govt. of for creation of tourism infrastructure. Once developed and furnished the tourist complexes are handed over to the Haryana Tourism Corporation for their maintenance and operation as an agent of the State Government. As on date, the department has set up a net work of 42 tourist complexes spreading all over the state. A list of these tourist complexes alongwith their room capacity is as under :-

PROMOTION IN PRIVATE SECTOR

Haryana has acquired a prominent place on the tourist map of India for its outstanding contribution in promotion of tourism. The Government has set up a network of 42 tourist complexes all over the State which are extremely popular with the tourists. There are total 844 rooms, Convention Centres, Golf Courses, Lakes, Heritage rooms and other facilities such as Camping Sites.

The Govt. has provided major thrust to tourism promotion in the State, so that it becomes a major engine of economic growth and a catalyst of employment generation. The Government has announced its Tourism Policy in the year 2008. The Tourism Policy has acknowledged the role of private sector in tourism development and promotion with Government acting as facilitator and catalyst for the future growth. Thrust has been given on human resources development, systematic marketing and adoption of new technologies in the tourism sector.

PROMOTION OF FARM TOURISM The department has introduce a new concept of promotion of Farm Tourism in the State in which suitable farms are identified where the tourists are encouraged to visit the farms and see the rural/village life. The owners of the farms act as host and guide for the tourists. The list of farms identified under this scheme is given is as under:-

HUNAR SE ROZGAR Greater employment generations by tourism promotion is a long term objective of the Department. The Union Ministry of Tourism has launched a training programme called ‘Hunar Se Rozgar’ to create employable skills in the interested youth who are in the age group of 18-28 and who re minimum 8th pass. The State Government has implemented this scheme in its own IHMs, in private institutes and also in collaboration with ITDC. A total number of 6018 candidates have been imparted training under this scheme till now. During the year 2013, Hunar Se Rozgar Scheme was implemented by Haryana Tourism Corporation on World Tourism Day (27th September, 2013) at Tourist Complexes (Ambala, , Red Bishop, Pinjore, Morni, Rai, Blue Bird Hissar, Bahadurgarh, Magpie Faridabad, Sohna, Gurgaon, Dharuhera, Damdama & Hodal). 760 persons were imparted training in Food Production (8 weeks-391 persons). They were given Tool Kit, Uniform and Stipend @ Rs. 2000/- (Food Production) and Rs. 1500/- (F&B Service).

TOURISM PROJECTS UNDER PPP MODE Haryana Govt. has taken a special initiative in propagating various tourism/Hotel Projects in Public Private Partnerships. The work of Institute of Hotel Management, Badkhal (Faridabad) has been allotted to M/s. Bharat Hotels Ltd, New Delhi on a long term lease of 33 years. The Institute has been started 3 year degree course since 2013. Amusement Park at Tilyar Lake, Rohtak, Welness Resort-cum-Spa at Kaziana, Mallah Surajkund Nature Park and camping site at Damdama are under active consideration of the Haryana Govt. leading to large generation of employment and development of the Southern Haryana & NCR near Delhi.

TOURISM INFORMATION CENTRES/BUREAUS The department has set up Haryana Tourist Information Bureau located at 36- Janpath, Chanderlok Building, New Delhi. This bureau is headed by a Divisional Manager of the Tourism Corporation.

The primary functions of these tourist offices are to disseminate the information about the tourist attractions of the state to the tourists and distribute publicity literature etc. Keeping the above functions of the Tourism Department in view, the main work of the department is done at Head Quarter level. The Tourism Department is headed by the Director General. The Director General is the overall Incharge of the Management and supervision of the department. The Director General is assisted by the Additional Director (Admn.), Joint Director, two Deputy Directors and other supporting staff to carry out the functions of the department. The Additional Director (Admn.) has been designated as Head of the Office of the Department.
