Shevchenko National University “Chernihiv Colehium”, Słowiński National Park, Polish Academy of Sciences and Polish Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research Polish Academy of Sciences, we are delighted to welcome you to the fourth edition of the Conference “Natural resources of border areas under a changing climate - NARBAC 2020”. Natural resources of border areas under a changing climate - NARBAC began in 2017 in Chernihiv (Ukraine) continuing this tradition, we hope that this event will allow you to meet again with a wider audience and increase opportunities for exchange of experiences and scientific discussion. The local organizing committee, led by Piotr Perliński Ph.D. working very hard to make this meeting a success. We are delighted by the breadth and scope of the oral presentations and posters that will be presented, and we look forward to your impressions of this meeting, with the possibility of continuing these combined meetings on a two-year schedule for Poland and Ukraine, respectively. If there is anything we or other members of the scientific or organizing committees can do to make this meeting more successful during your participation, please let us know. Due to the current global pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, this year's fourth edition of the NARBAC 2020 conference is the first to be held online. After many months of uncertainty, we are finally here and we are pleased that so many participants have registered for our online conference. We do believe, that this will be an excellent opportunity to increase our interaction and build future collaborations. We have had valuable support from the local patronages and sponsors, which includes: Rector of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk Zbigniew Osadowski Assoc. Prof., President of the city of Słupsk Krystyna Danilecka-Wojewódzka, Leśny Dwór, Ustka and Warcino State Forestry (National Forests), Commune of Damnica and Słupsk, Touristic Organizations (Local Centre of Touristic Information at Słupsk and Ustka and Słupsk land). The session coordinators have done a wonderful job answering our and participants' queries. The scientific content presented during the meeting is a result of their hard work. We would also like to thank a number of people here in Pomeranian University in Słupsk and Słowiński National Park for their intellectual support as well as to Jacek Niski for beautiful graphic design and web support. We hope that the progress in research on this new virus threat will result in the discovery of the cure and that the next edition will be able to take place again in the traditional form.
