On The Journey (continued from page 1) strong, and God chose the lowly and despised of the world, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who are something. Our Catholic Christian belief is that Christ is our redemption and our justification, and that living a life modeledonthe Beatitudes leads to happiness and fulfillment. That belief is now two thousand years old, and is still strongly held by more than two billion people. Friedrich Nietzsche is very much dead, and God is quite alive in this world because of those who believe in Jesus Christ and strive to live the message of the Beatitudes. As we move further into this new year of 2017, let’s work at making sure the Beatitudes are clearly written on our hearts – and expressed in our daily actions!

+After much help, review, (and jostling of the computer running the thing for all I know!), the boiler system in church has been running well and as planned! There are just a couple “tweaks” that need to be made, but things have been running smoothly, and automatically, as programmed. Thanks for your patience. After receiving the final inspection reports, all the manuals, etc., we will be releasing our final payment – and then proceed on to our next project!

+There is still time to sign up for the next wave of Alpha here at St. Andrew. The Saturday Men’s Prayer group has already started their wave. Why not sign up now and continue your journey to rediscover Jesus and your faith in your life?!

+Prayers and support for our second and final group of second graders who made their first reconciliation on Saturday this weekend. We keep all of you in prayer as you continue to journey toward your first Holy Communion right after Easter!

+The celebrations and ordinations for our two new auxiliary this past week – Robert Fisher and Bishop Gerard Battersby – were wonderful and spiritually thought-provoking. Please keep our new bishops in your prayers; Bishop Fisher will have responsibility for the Northeast Region, and Bishop Battersby will have responsibility for the South Region of the Archdiocese.

+Your generosity at Christmas totaled almost $333K – which was $35K more than last year, and significantly more than the budgeted amount. These sacrificial offerings have helped us to pay off the remaining $120K in debt that was on the parish books, which came about from the old vicariate bond debt restructuring. WE ARE NOW DEBT –FREE! Since my arrival, we have diligently worked to pay it off early, saving more than two years of interest expense in the process (that would have been around $15,000). I prayerfully thank you all for your generosity! Now we will have more funds to assist us in addressing the various maintenance issues that exist on our parish campus.

+May we all respond to the call of Jesus to be his true disciples each and every day. I look forward to seeing you in church! Msgr. Mike (with thoughts from FAITH Catholic Publishing)

This week women and men travel from all over the country to march toward the Capital in Washington DC in honor of women. They are marching because they believe that every wom- an has the strength and courage to be a mother if necessary. These people are marching because they know that babies are blessings, not curses. This march is a statement to empower women not to run away in fear of becoming a mother.
