In "Warrior", scritta da SIA, viene affrontato il tema dei rifugiati. Nel nuovo album compaiono anche un duetto con John Legend, "I'll Be Gentle", e due discorsi: "Evolution" del famoso attore Samuel L. Jackson e "Politics of Hope", un commento politico di Owen Jones. Gli arrangiamenti degli archi di "The Architect", "Warrior" e "I'll Be Gentle" sono stati scritti da David Arnold, il celebre compositore conosciuto per il suo lavoro per le colonne sonore dei film di James Bond. Paloma ha dichiarato: «"The Architect" è un album di osservazione sociale. Sono sempre stata decisa a non voler parlare di amore. Volevo guardare fuori da me stessa.
