The Members of the Board of Trustees of the Masonic Home of Florida met in regular session on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with the following members present:

CALL TO ORDER: R∴W∴ J. Steven Teal called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. The Chairman welcomed all assembled and asked them to join in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. The Invocation was given by R∴W∴ J. Steven Teal.

R∴W∴ D. Mark Small made a motion that the Minutes from the last regular Board of Trustees Meetings held on February 9, 2019, and March 16, 2019, be approved as printed and distributed. Second was made by M∴W∴ Stanley L. Hudson, P.G.M., and the motion carried.

REPORT OF THE SECRETARY OF THE BOARD: The Board of Trustees will meet in a workshop Session on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 12:00 p.m., and actions will be reported at next month’s Board of Trustees Meeting.

ADMINISTRATOR’S BOARD REPORT: Lisa Tsotsos reported at our last regular Board Meeting we had 106 Residents in the Home. During the month of March, we had 2 admissions, 3 losses and 1 discharge, bringing the total to 104. Of those, 43 are men and 61 are women, with 1 of the women sponsored by the Order of the Eastern Star.

With 2 admissions, 3 losses and 1 discharge, the month of March ended with 54 Assisted Living and 50 Nursing Center for a total of 104 residents.

MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT FAILED EQUIPMENT REPORT: 1. Replaced 1/20 hp motor on fan coil unit in Room 240, N/C 2. 2. Replaced leaking drain assembly on Cleveland Steamer in main kitchen. Also replaced all hoses, clamps, and fittings. 3. Rewired ignition wires and replaced defective switch on deep fat fryer in main kitchen. 4. Replaced exhaust fan motor serving part of the Dining Room after failure in windings. 5. Replaced fan coil thermostat in Room 241, N/C 2. 6. Vootu repaired switch and wiring on light pole in east employee parking lot. 7. AutoNation Ford replaced defective sensor on wheelchair van that was causing the van to cut off while sitting at traffic lights. 8. High Performance Plumbing repaired difficult leak in 1 ½” copper piping and fittings on south hall, R/C 2.

DIETARY DEPARTMENT REPORT: The total number of resident meals served for the month of March was 9,951 with 1,597 other meals, which included employees, visitors, and special events, for a total of 11,548 meals served. The Masonic Home collected $630.50 toward meal cost. The raw food cost per meal was $1.20.

SECURITY DEPARTMENT REPORT: There were no reportable incidents for the month of March. There were 2 new resident ID badges and 7 new employee ID badges issued.

HOUSEKEEPING/LAUNDRY DEPARTMENT REPORT: The Housekeeping Department standards are at a good level to maintain the facility standards. The laundry used 15 gallons of Bio Power Detergent at $26.47 each; 17 gallons of Flo-Glo Chlorine Destainer at $10.40 each; 17 gallons of Flo Prime Alkali Builder at $23.20 each; and 15 gallons of Qualitex Sour/Softener at $19.00 each; 1-SPEC-TAC 40LB Pail (Laundry Booster) at $144.00 for a total of $1,397.25 in chemical costs for the month of March. The average count was between 55,000 and 65,000 pounds for the month.

A motion was made by R∴W∴ D. Mark Small and seconded by R∴W∴ Ronald E. Peebles that the Administrator’s Report be accepted as read. Motion carried.

LONG RANGE PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT: 1. Update on previous projects, repairs, and/or services: • The installation of the new wander prevention system by Senior Safety Technologies is now completed with the associated wiring also replaced due to age and improper existing connections with a change order cost of $1,500. • The Annual Nursing Center AHCA Inspection is now completed with 6 total deficiencies noted. The Maintenance Department is currently correcting the deficiencies for future re-inspection. • The air handler unit #14 replacement in the kitchen is now completed with final AHCA approval. Final payment for services will not be paid without final punch list completion. • The Federal Department of Environmental Protection has cited us for contaminated soil at the site of our old generator fuel tank. This problem has been presented for remediation in the past and now must be completed. The Department has grants available for both testing and remediation projects,

2 which should cover the costs of the entire project. The Long Range Planning Committee has voted to proceed. • Requests for bids to replace the roof of the Kitchen/Dining Facility are currently being received and reviewed for presentation for action by the Long Range Planning Committee. • Bids for the kitchen flooring replacement have been reviewed and Cimco Tile has been selected to complete the project. • The Long Range Planning Committee recommends that the contract for the Guesthouse alarm/elevator monitoring change from Spectrum to Dart at a savings of $30 per month. • The Long Range Planning Committee voted to renew our contract with Unifirst for staff uniforms. • The Maintenance Director’s Report is attached as a part of this report. 2. There are no contracts up for renewal this month.

LEGAL ADVISOR’S REPORT: The total funds received during the month of March from Estates and Wills was $10,313.01, which brings the year-to-date total of funds received for the Masonic Home Endowment Fund, Inc., on behalf of Estates and Wills to $297,285.60.

As of this date, $66,920.05 was received from Estates and Wills and deposited into the Masonic Home Building Fund.

R∴W∴ D. Mark Small presented the Legal Advisor’s Report and moved for its adoption. Second was made by Brother Justin W. Franke and the motion carried.

BUDGET REPORT: The following report reflects expenditures through March 31, 2019: Administration 96.92% Maintenance 80.57% Dietary 106.75% Nursing 90.60% Housekeeping 105.06% Recreation 85.30% Social Services 93.52% TOTAL 92.57%

We report that we are currently under budget 7.4% ($588k) for the fiscal year without contingency funds being used.

A motion was made by R∴W∴ Kenneth E. Shaw and seconded by R∴W∴ Michael L. Elliott that the Budget Committee Report be accepted as presented. Motion carried.

ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE REPORT: The Admissions and Relief Committee met by conference call on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, and the following application was approved for admission:

One application was held over another month pending resolution of financial issues. There were no applications for Emergency Relief or Non-Resident Relief.

OPERATIONS COMMITTEE REPORT: A. Technology: The installation of the updated telephone system is in the process but we are waiting for some additional quotes from Frontier. The visitor management system is up and running. 3 B. Marketing: i. We are sending out mailings to the surrounding neighborhood highlighting our 100 Year Anniversary and will be hosting an Ice Cream Social for home healthcare workers and providers. ii. There will be an in-service for compassion fatigue. iii. We are continuing to advertise in the Senior Living Guide. iv. We are still receiving responses to our survey and will have it distributed in the Packets. v. We are selling engraved bricks as a fundraiser for the Masonic Home Building Fund and will be distributing information at the upcoming Annual Grand Communication.

Brother Justin W. Franke presented the Operations Committee Report and moved for its adoption. Second was made by M∴W∴ Stanley L. Hudson, P.G.M., and the motion carried.

The Grand Marshal and Grand Master made introductions of all the Brothers and ladies present. Then the Grand Master and the First Lady made themselves available for presentations and contributions.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Chairman recognized the members of the Board who are completing their term, as this is their last meeting at the Masonic Home. They include: R∴W∴ Michael L. Elliott; M∴W∴ Stanley L. Hudson, P.G.M.; and R∴W∴ J. Steven Teal, Chairman.

The next regular Board Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Annual Grand Communication at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida.

R∴W∴ Rudin J. Boatright gave the Benediction and the meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.

Karroum, Grand Master in 2018, passed away on Friday Evening, May 31, 2019, after an episode on Tuesday, May 28th during the 190th Annual Grand Communication where he was sitting Grand Master, following a short stay in the hospital.

M∴W∴ John E. Karroum was born in Damascus, Syria, on January 22, 1950, M∴W∴ Karroum received the Three Symbolic Degrees of in Zahle Lodge No. 1047, Chartered by The Grand Lodge of Scotland in Zahle, Lebanon, in 1977, was a Dual Member of Boynton Lodge No. 236, and a Plural Member of Apalachicola Lodge No. 76.

A Memorial Service, including Masonic Rites, will be held at Boynton Lodge No. 236, 2701 Quantum Blvd., Boynton Beach, Florida, 33426, on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.

Most Worshipful John W. Westerman, III, Grand Master, has requested that all the Particular Lodges drape their Altars for one month in memory of our beloved Past Grand Master.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to M∴W∴ Karroum’s family. Our Fraternity has suffered a great loss with the passing of this distinguished Past Grand Master. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Florida Rainbow for Girls or the Florida DeMolay. Checks should be made out to the Masonic Charities of Florida Fund, Inc., and mailed to The Grand Lodge of Florida at 220 N Ocean Street, Jacksonville, Florida, 32202.
