I would like to start by discussing G some general health issues and get more specific in the upcoming months. As men, we some- times forget to take care of our bodies. We get caught up in toils and grinds of everyday life. However, we should remember to take care of our bodies by eating properly and exercising. Our diet should consist of mixing fruits and vegetables in our daily routine. The fiber from these products are beneficial in maintaining good bowel movements. Please do not cook your vegetables with a lot of fatty products as this is not healthy. If you must add flavor to your vegetables, please use lean cuts of meat that are also low in sodium. As I have stated above, try to buy meat products that are lean and low in sodium.

It has been a year full of various activities and many accomplishments. However, we definitely had a setback due to the relocation of our Junior Warden, Brother Joe Reynolds, who accepted temporary employment in Michigan. This occurred in August and we were fortunate to have W:. Mike Swatek who agreed to take the position on a pro tempore basis through the remainder of the year. In view of this, I have to give special thanks to all of my officers who stepped up and took on extra duties to help run the Lodge and the many degrees and activities associated with it, especially in the area of food preparation and service. Special thanks and heartfelt appreciation also go out to R:. W:. Frank Albinson and W:. Joseph Goggin for their efforts in advancing this Lodge to another new high. You can always sit in an Entered Apprentice Lodge; you can always return to observe, to participate in, and to study its ceremonies. Doubtless, you have an eager curiosity to learn more about this remarkable Degree before you pass on to the Fellow Craft Degree; perhaps its ceremonies seemed somewhat strange to you; its language fell on your ears with unaccustomed accents; and at the end of it, you may have been somewhat bewildered to understand it all. It is our function as Brothers to help you to interpret it, and we shall try to do that by explaining various phases and aspects of it. For the present, it is our privilege to assist you to that end by giving you a brief explanation of the term “Entered Apprentice” itself.

    Fall 2001 Grand Lodge of Alabama Visits the Memorial The Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Alabama held an emergent Grand Lodge Communication at The George Washington Masonic Memorial to inaugurate November 2001 as The Grand Lodge of Alabama Month at the Memorial. Officers of the Grand Lodge of Alabama who participated were: M.W. V. Wayne Causey, Grand Master; R.W. Roger A. Simmons, Deputy Grand Master; R.W. Billy C. Ford, Senior Grand Warden; R.W. Darrell Neill, Junior Grand Warden; M.W. Jerry M. Underwood, PGM and Grand Secretary; W. Lew W. Jones, Junior Grand Deacon; Lyn Emfinger, Senior Grand Steward; and Luther S. (Pythagoras) Holder, Chairman, Committee on Work and Past Junior Grand Steward. Also present at the meeting was R.W. Robert H. Starr, Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia and W. George D. Seghers, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of The George Washington Masonic Memorial and Grand Marshal of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia. The Brethren from Alabama presented an excellent exhibit about the Grand Lodge of Alabama, which was installed in Assembly Hall. The Grand Master and Grand Lodge Officers toured The George Washington Masonic Memorial and the House of the Temple, the headquarters for the Supreme Council, 33°, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A.
