A VISIT TO VINITALY

On the 24th March my teacher and I went to the Vinitaly in Verona.

The aim of the visit was to get to know the business profile and the characteristics of the various wine cellars through some interviews to the owners. We interviewed three owners of DOCG wine cellars belonging , each of them with very different ways and approaches. It was the first time that I went to such an exibition and it has been an exciting experience: it is was very big, divided into sectors for each Italian regions. I was struck by the kindness and willingness to help on part of the owners I asked my numerous questions . The interviewed firms are:

What is the amount of Your production – how many bottles? The production of Prosecco Conegliano Valdobbiadene is 450,000

Which countries do You export to? ; Germany; Canada; USA; Australia; New Zealand; Brazil; Peru; China

Which are the countries You would like to export to? At the moment the business does not intend to stretch over .to any foreign countries with the exception of the russian market

What are the strategies You use/ would like to use in order to export Your goods to the foreign countries? Mr Bortolin highlights the importance of being a member of the Wine Consortium: it is a big opportunity to be known in the foreign markets. It is also true that his business is already well- knonw in many foreign markets; as a consequence it doesn't require further strategies because nowadays - unlike in the first years it's the buyers / clients that contact the firm.

How much value do You impute to Your website and what objectives do You aim to? Surely it has the purpose to attract and to inform on the business and the products the Italian customers. They also try to let people discover the territories where the winery operates: Conegliano-Valdobbiadene. On the other hand the site gives the possibility to select a foreign languages so that it can reach foreign customers

What would you improve in Your business website? They would want the site to be updated more frequently: at the moment he is having his site updated

Do you manage the site directly or do you have it updated by some specialised consultancy agency ? The ideas and the aesthetical decisions are the owner's, while the technical support and the implementation are made by a computing consultancy.

BUFFON

At the beginning of the 20th century Francesco Buffon designated some of his parcels of land to vine growing. His winery quickly stood out for the quality of the grapes. These first satisfactions led to the accuracy, carefulness and love for the business also in succeeding generations. Over time, the winery firm specialized in the production of wine and made it its primary activity. Wine types remained unchanged over the years, they were processed with handcraft procedures, thus combining tradition and new technologies.

Does Your winery produce other wine varieties? Apart from Prosecco docg, they also produce Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Manzoni White and Verdiso for the white berried grapes; for the black berried grapes: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Marzemino and Castel Nero (fancy name given to an ancient grape variety )

Which countries do You export to? Germany Switzerland Canada; USA; Russia; Kazakhstan; China

What strategies do You use in order to export Your goods to these foreign countries? It is important to have a direct contact with the potential purchaser.

What objectives do You aim to with Your website? It is a possibilty to make oneself known abroad . They intend the website for advertising and selling purposes

Are You satisfied with Your business website? The Owner Ms Buffon is quite satisfied with it.

What would you improve in Your business website? Although the fact that they are quite satisfied, they maintain that the graphic design and the layout can be further enhanced; beyond that, they would like to update it more often with their new products and versions.

Do you manage the site directly or do you have it updated by some specialised consultancy agency? They implement their own website with no help of a specialized agency
