Greetings from the President
NEWSLETTER//04 GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Members, It seems a long time since we welcomed those of you who attended the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Finals in Leipzig; however it was a great pleasure to see you all in Germany. As well as three days of entertaining Show Jumping finals, it also provided a prime opportunity for JOC members to meet and discuss any pressing matters. I have outlined below issues that we have debated; should you have any thoughts or feedback, please feel free to contact me. Best Regards, Christian Baillet CLUB UPDATE It gives me great pleasure to introduce the newest members of the JOC. All are individuals fully dedicated to Show Jumping and I am confident they will benefit the club in growing the popularity of the sport. I remain committed to the goal of increasing our membership figures, and I would like to extend my warmest welcome to Mr. Fiorelli from Italy, Mr. Romo from Mexico, Mr. Pellegrin from France, Mrs. Debany from the USA, Mr. Känhy from Switzerland, and Lady Forbes from Ireland. Following our previous meeting at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™, the club is in a strong financial state. With assets available to spend on initiatives which would help grow the membership of the JOC, I open the table up for discussion on any opportunities in which you, as members, feel the JOC should invest in. A topic introduced in Leipzig was the development of a JOC website to better inform all members, and followers of the sport, of our initiatives and commitment to the development of Show Jumping. -

Dachte man zumindest. -

Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy Left Me Amazed After Watching the Riders at Close Quarters
LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN Inspiration, motivation, passion and perspective. Every day we follow those values with dedication to enlighten and entertain our HORSE TIMES readers and, perhaps, to leave a lasting mark. Attending the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy left me amazed after watching the riders at close quarters. Their ability to rise to the necessary competitive level of this event, the feeling of despondence on a bad competition day, and the hope for a better new day demonstrated each competitor’s strength, resilience, and character in a very inspiring way. Eye-catching fence designs featuring the region of Normandy were creative and not your usual logo-branded jumps. Normandy on its own was fabulous; Deauville, Honfleur, Arromanche and Caen were all breath-taking venues for this important event. Moments from the Games including the nerve-wracking halts, near falls, and falls during the cross-country and the tremendous mental pressure on the riders of the final top four in show jumping were exhilarating where Frederic Cottier, the show jumping course designer, displayed his wealth of expertise and ability in designing such competitive and technical, yet safe, courses. Every day of the Games we stayed up till after midnight to record, compile and organise all of these special moments and share some of our work efforts on our Social Media channels. The look of the courses and fences, the expressions on the faces of every enthusiast cheering for his friend or countryman or favourite riders - all of those glorious moments are gone, but are still captured on our files. -

THE « LONGINES PARIS EIFFEL » a MULTICULTURAL JUMPING High
THE « LONGINES PARIS EIFFEL » A MULTICULTURAL JUMPING High performance sport, art, horse ride in Paris, free introductions to pony riding, conference on horse wellfare, a touch of gastronomy, an exhibitors’ village for everyone, tradition with Republican Guard and so much to discover : the Longines Paris Eiffel Jumping, located on the Champ-de-Mars from 4 july to 7 july, will be a huge open space dedicated to the glory of horses. Art and high-level equestrian competition are the two pillars of the Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League team series parisian stage. These two series will respectively end in Doha in november and in Prague in December and are supported by the famous swiss watch brand Longines. In Paris, the best riders in the world will try to collect enough points to have the right to compete for both finals. They will also try to directly qualify for the new LGCT Super Grand Prix. This special price will take place in Prague the 15 of december and will offer a 1 250 000 euros in prize money. Each LGCT Grand Prix winner will directly go to Prague. Here are three stakes for this parisian stage where the four french Olympic champions will ride : Pénélope Leprévost, Kevin Staut, Philippe Rozier and the world’s number one Roger-Yves Bost. The dutch rider Harrie Smolders, who just won the Hambourg stage, will also ride at the Longines Paris Eiffle Jumping just like the Global Champions League leaders as Scott Brash, Edwina Tops Alexander, Ben Maher, Daniel Deusser… Horses in the streets of Paris Beyond this high-level equestrian competition, wich is what sport has best to offer, the wish of Virginie Coupérie-Eiffel is to get a maximum number of parisians to horse and to allow them to approach this fascinating equestrian world closer in many different ways on the Champ-de-Mars.
