Florida is known for many things; among them sunshine, warm temperatures and all those Florida beaches. There are so many beaches, islands and coastal communities to choose from in Florida, that it became necessary to give these areas specific names in order to be able to distinguish between them all. So Jacksonville was given First Coast as it is the first coast many encounter when they enter Florida. Student?s Grade Point Average is a way of measuring student?s academic achievement in high school. Student?s GPA is calculated by adding all the student?s final course grades by the number of courses taken. What classes count toward my GPA? ALL classes taken in high school effect a student?s GPA. Honors, AICE, and Dual Enrollment courses offer a higher weighted GPA than traditional courses. Why is GPA important? The minimum GPA required to graduate is a 2.0, but students with a higher GPA may qualify for academic scholarships and have a better chance of getting into the college of their choice.
