• The opens it’s 2013 campaign with a trip to Jayne Stadium to face NCAA Div. TONIGHT’S MATCH-UP I FCS member Morehead State and its fi rst-year head coach Rob Tenyer. Tenyer spent the last 12 seasons as an assistant with the Eagles before replacing Matt Ballard over the summer. Tonight’s vs. game is being streamed by the OVC Digital Network and Pike TV, which can also be seen on chan- nel 99 locally in Pikeville. • Head coach Dudley Hilton begins his third season leading the UPIKE Bears after a 36-season Pikeville Bears (0-0) career coaching at the high school level in the state of . Hilton led Bell County to two state 2012 Record: 3-8 (1-4 MSC East/T4th) titles (1991 and 2008) and added a third state championship at Bourbon County in 1997. Hilton’s son. John-Dudley, is a junior this season after leading the team in tackles in 2012. 2013 Rank: NR NAIA • UPIKE is a member of the Mid-South Conference East Division where it was picked to fi nish sixth out of seven teams in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Bears got off to a hot start last season, (0-0) winning three of their fi rst four games before ending the year on a seven-game losing skid. UPIKE 2012 Record: 4-7 (3-5 PFL/T6th) fi nished the year with a 1-4 mark in the east division. 2013 Rank: NR Coach/NR Sports Network • The team’s leading receiever and rusher are both back in the fold for the 2013 season. Senior Jor- dan Amis from Hazard, Ky., fi nished with a team-best 40 catches for 611 yard and four touchdowns, while Seth Millar, a junior out of Waynesville, Ohio led the backs 593 yards and six touchdowns with SERIES HISTORY a longest run of 42 yards. Overall Record: 0-0 • The quarterback position is in new hands after the graduation of Trevor Hoskins, who set UPIKE Last Meeting: First career and season records in yards and touchdowns. Junior Reese Browning from Knoxville, Tenn., is expected to start under center against Morehead State. Browning played in three games last sea- son, putting up good numbers in limited action of 15-for-22 passing for 173 yards and a touchdown. HEAD COACHES • The arrival of Brian Williams as defensive coordinator at UPIKE has brought along new enthusiam Pikeville for the level of play expected from the Bears’ defensive unit. Williams is a former All-SEC performer Dudley Hilton (Eastern Kentucky ‘72) at the University of Kentucky who has brought new energy to UPIKE. Last season the Bears gave Record at Pikeville: 7-14 (Third Year) up over 430 yards of offense per game and close to 40 points per contest. Overall Record: 7-14 (Third Year) • UPIKE has won its past two season openers, both on the road, topping Bluefi eld (Va.) 42-28 in 2012 Record vs. Morehead State: 0-0 and Point (Ga.) 44-26 in 2011. • UPIKE plays one of the toughest schedules in the country this season, taking on fi ve teams ranked Morehead State in the NAIA Preseason Coaches’ Top-25 Poll.
