With over 5,400 islands in Oskarshamn Mu- nicipality, makes it Sweden’s fourth-richest island municipality. The archipelago is from Tjust in the north, to Kalmarsund in the south. The Oskarshamn coast is varied, with a denser archipelago in the north and more open to the south. The Misterhults archipelago in the north,has thousands of islands and a narrow sound, and is considered as one of Sweden’s best waters for kayaking. At Påskallavik in the south, you can experience the transition between the southern archipelago and the northern archipelago. But, perhaps the most spectacular and mythical is the island of Blå Jungfrun, which is a couple of miles from Oskarshamn’s coast.
