Hello fellow Sir Knights! As always, I pray that this newsletter finds you in great spirits and health.  Birthdays.  Saint of the Month 2 From SK Joe – “the APD Rosary was held on a wet rainy morning, but not cold, so that was a blessing. Attending were SK and Officer Kresta, SK Carl Disher, SK John Rivera (retired deacon) from St. Anthony, SK James Albright from St. Elizabeth, SK Joe Jimenez and Je- sus with our blessed mother Mary. That comes up as lucky 7, we had a great prayer vigil and  Faithful Admiral 3 the Holy Spirit was with the group. It went great and they did not get wet, as we sheltered  Snack Schedule under a covered area there at the police station. Ready for the next one.”

 We are again starting the Assembly election process for the 2021 – 2022 year. Our election Saint of the Month 4 Continued committee is looking for a volunteer for the Faithful Scribe position. Please consider getting involved with your Assembly activities and notify SK Roberts if you can assist. We are also  Prayer List looking for a SK to assume the Newsletter responsibilities from SK Nelson. Greg has worked 5 the Newsletter for several years and needs some relief.  Assembly Banner We will have an Admissions Meeting when we have Fourth Degree candidates (can be virtu-  Officers 6 al and/or in person). Please send your candidate’s Form 4 data to our Faithful Admiral, SK Moreno ASAP. The Spring Fourth Degree Exemplification is set for May 22nd at St Anthony de Claret in Kyle. There will only be the Exemplification, no banquet etc. We live in extraordinary times – times that challenge us to attend worship services. “The pandemic has revealed that attacks on our religious liberty are still very real and prevalent. During this Texas Legislative Session we must take a stand to ensure our religious liberties are protected and the Freedom to Worship Act, SB 26/HB 1239, does just that. https://txvalues.salsalabs.org/protectourfreedomtoworshipact/index.html

“By ensuring that a “government agency or public official may not issue an order that closes or has the effect of closing places of worship in the state or in a geographic area of the state,” the Freedom to Worship Act fortifies our religious liberty made vulnerable to radical anti-religion governmental attacks.” If you are interested, please take a look at this website for more information – Once again, we will not be able to have our Memorial Day service at the Assumption Ceme- tery. Officials there have informed me that to date, COVID concerns limits what events they can hold. I’ll try again in mid April to get approval. Please remember to remit your dues payment to SK Albert ASAP.

We will have our next meeting via the virtual meeting using Free Conference. Please join us in our Free Conference Call, Apr 12th. I’ll ask our Faithful Captain to send out the particulars soon. God Bless You and yours. Vivat Jesus! Robert Chaplin Faithful Navigator, Bishop Louis J. Reicher Assembly 1099 Page 2 The Sir Knight News

Geronimo Aguirre Nathaniel Aniekwu Saint of the Month—SK Giacomo Leone Frank Avillar Peter Carrizales Robert Dankworth Saint Zita Guy Desrochers Robert Donathan Zita was born in Tuscany in the village of Monsagrati, not far from Lucca where, at Gerald Garcia the age of 12, she became a servant in the Fatinelli household. For a long time, she Craig LaRobardier was unjustly despised, overburdened, reviled, and often beaten by her employers and fellow servants for her hard work and obvious goodness. The incessant ill-usage, Giacomo Leone however, was powerless to deprive her of her inward peace, her love of those who Ian Manzak wronged her, and her respect for her employers. By this meek and humble self- Johnny Martinez restraint, Zita at last succeeded in overcoming the malice of her fellow-servants and Arthur Martinez her employers, so much so that she was placed in charge of all the affairs of the Edwin Mazurek house. Her faith had enabled her to persevere against their abuse, and her constant David Moore piety gradually moved the family to a religious awakening. Thomas Natoli Zita often said to others that devotion is false if slothful. She considered her work Raul Ramirez as an employment assigned to her by God himself, and as part of her penance, and Reynaldo Rodriguez obeyed her master and mistress in all things as being placed over her by God. She Tony Ross always rose several hours before the rest of the family and employed in prayer a con- Michael Vandermate siderable part of the time which others gave to sleep. She took care to hear Mass Darrel Vinklarek every morning with great devotion before she was called upon by the duties of her station, in which she was employed the whole day, with such diligence and fidelity Francis Zordilla that she seemed to be carried to them on wings, and studied when possible to antici- pate them. One anecdote relates a story of Zita giving her own food or that of her master to the poor. On one morning, Zita left her chore of baking bread to tend to someone in need. Some of the other servants made sure the Fatinelli family was aware of what happened; when they went to investigate, they claimed to have found angels in the Fatinelli kitchen, baking the bread for her.

Death and

The body of Saint Zita, found to be incorrupt[2] Zita died peacefully in the Fatinelli house on April 27, 1272. It is said that a star appeared above the attic where she slept at the moment of her death. She was 60 years old,[3] and had served and edified the family for 48 years. By the time of her death, she had become practically venerated by the family. After 150 miracles had been attributed to Zita's intercession and recognized by the church, she was canonized in 1696. Her body was exhumed in 1580, discovered to be incorrupt, but has since become mummified. Saint Zita's body is currently on display for public veneration in the Basilica di San Frediano in Lucca. Her feast day in the Roman is April 27. To this day, families bake a loaf of bread in celebration of Saint Zita's feast day. Veneration Soon after Zita's death a popular cult grew up around her, centering on the Basilica of San Frediano in Lucca.[5] This was also joined by prominent members of the city. sanctioned a liturgical cult within the church in the early 16th century, which was confirmed upon her canonization. In 1748, Pope Benedict XIV added her name to the . During the late medieval era, her popular cult had grown throughout Europe. In she was known under the name Sitha, and was popularly invoked by maidservants and housewives, particularly in event of having lost one's keys, or when crossing rivers or bridges. Images of Saint Zita may be seen in churches across the south of England. The church of St Benet Sherehog in London had a chapel dedicated to her, and was locally known as St. Sithes. However, despite her popularity at this time, the cult was not an official one.[6] Ruth Rendell published the detective novel "The Saint Zita Society", focusing on an association of domestic servants in present-day London who had chosen this name though most of them are not Catholics at all.
