FATA UNIVERSITY FR Kohat First Ever Public Sector University in the Tribal Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Formerly known as FATA) 2021 - 2022 20 13 FATA UNIVERSITY PROSPECTUS 2021-22 02 Message PR OSPECTUS 2021-22 of the Vice Chancellor t gives me immense pleasure to present FATA University as a new seat of learning and the first ever Ipublic sector University in the erstwhile FATA region. Although it is located in Tehsil Sub-Division Darra Adam Khel yet it belongs to all Newly Merged Districts as its aim is to provide relevant quality education and training to students at their doorsteps. To achieve this objective we are not only strengthening/constructing our infrastructure but also planning to extend these facilities to other district where there is a dire need to reach out to the target population. Currently FATA University is offering BS programs in seven disciplines but we are introducing three more disciplines in the near future. After we shift to our new campus from the next session, InshaAllah we will start with more programs. I have a very good impression of potentials of our youth especially in the tribal region of our country and we are F A trying to provide them with opportunities so that their T A potentials is polished and their energies are channelized U N for the greater good and development of our beloved I V country Pakistan. The plan for establishing a PR University of international standard in erstwhile FATA was finally conceived when the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Yousaf Raza Gillani announced its establishment during a meeting with MNAs from erstwhile FATA on January 16, 2009. However, the project was delayed due to a number of reasons until the former President, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, approved the FATA University Regulations in May 2013. Afterwards, Government of Pakistan included a project titled “Establishment of FATA University” in PSDP (HEC) 2015-16 at an estimated cost of Rs.4.7 billion which be utilized in the completion of full-fledged university in various phases in future.. In the meanwhile, erstwhile FATA Secretariat and Ministry of SAFRON started the process of Y appointment of the Vice Chancellor. The T I search committee constituted for the S R purpose interviewed, the shortlisted E V candidates and recommended a panel of I three names for the consideration of the N U then Chancellor/Governor KP, Mr. Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi. The Notification for the appointment of Prof. A Dr. Mohammad Tahir Shah (T.I.) as the first Vice Chancellor of the University, after the approval of the T A Chancellor was issued vide erstwhile FATA Secretariat Notification No. PS/E/100-96 (Vol-10) / 412-24, dated F 13-01-2016 and the newly appointed Vice Chancellor assumed the charge of his office on January 18, 2016. Soon after assuming charge, the Vice Chancellor started his activities in his camp office established in the National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG), University of Peshawar where he was the Director before starting the new assignment. The faculty and staff of the NCEG extended full support in the routine matters to the VC and also the facilities of the NCEG were used in the initial stages which are highly appreciated. The Vice Chancellor started work on the preparation of the two PC-1s for obtaining funding for the smooth running of the affairs of the university. A PC-1 titled “Establishment of FATA University” was approved by the CDWP in April 2016 at a cost of Rs. 1.593 billion. This project includes Infrastructure Development, Human Resource Development and Procurement of equipment, furniture etc. Another project titled “Establishment of Project Management Unit (PMU)” for FATA University was approved by FDWP at a cost of Rs.31.488 million. However, the scheme was revised and approved at a revised cost of Rs. 40.008 million by the FDWP in April, 2016.
