Industrial and Provident Societies Cumainn Tionscail agus Coigiltis Legislation The principal legislation relating to industrial and provident societies (most of which are co-operative societies) is the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts, 1893 to 1978. Two societies were restored to the register in 2005 one of which was subsequently cancelled due to amalgamation. Taking these two cancellations into account together with 60 other societies, which were cancelled during the year, this shows a decrease of 13 in the number of societies on the register during the period under review. 7 Clárú Bhí 47 cumann nua tionscail agus coigiltis cláraithe.
