The townsfolk, ulti- mately, prefer legend to fact. William Hazelgrove prefers the facts. Truth, to him, is far more tan- talizing. As a writer, he’s become a champion of deconstructing history, revisiting periods in time we think we know, only to rattle preconceived notions. In the past, he’s written about the likes of First Lady Edith Wilson, President Teddy Roosevelt and noto- rious gangster Al Capone.
