Nothing compares to being here. Plain and simple. The fantastic feats of athleticism on the track, the excitement and emotion in the stands, the concentration and attention to detail on the dais, and the enticing goods in the vendor village. This is roller derby. We are roller derby. So who will you be today? Will you be persistent and powerful, strong and swift, a leader on the track? Will you be fierce and fast and forceful, a goal setter…a record breaker? Will you be focused and creative? Will you capture that amazing shot? Will you paint your face and put on your colors? Will you chant and sing and cry and scream? One thing is clear—whether you’re a Skater, Official, photographer, announcer, or fan (or any combination thereof), TODAY YOU WILL BE ROLLER DERBY! This weekend wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous amount of support and time our hosts, Columbia QuadSquad Rollergirls, and all of their volunteers have put in. When you see their event staff, be sure to thank them for hosting such a fantastic tournament. Enjoy your time in Columbia and we’ll see you ‘round the track! Alisha Campbell WFTDA TOURNAMENTS DIRECTOR 3 FROM YOUR HOST PHOTO: PHIL LACKEY WELCOME FROM THE COLUMBIA QUADSQUAD ROLLERGIRLS Welcome to our Famously Hot capital city! Columbia didn’t earn the nickname “Capital of Southern Hospitality” for nothing. When you’re down here, it’s simply good manners to smile, tip your hat, say “hello” or—at the very least—nod to acknowledge people as you pass them on the street. We hope you feel that warmth and welcomeness wherever you go in our fair city! ABOUT THE COLUMBIA QUADSQUAD ROLLERGIRLS The Columbia QuadSquad Rollergirls was founded in March 2007 by a small group of women who were eager to bring the newly-emerging sport of roller derby to South Carolina. In March of 2012 the league was admitted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. The league has grown dramatically since our first days and is now home to three teams, including the CQS Junior Rollers. The Columbia QuadSquad Rollergirls are so excited to host our first WFTDA Regional Tournament. We hope you have a great time in our famously hot city!
