This is also true for Muskegon County. Muskegon County is rich with surface water; it has hundreds of miles of streams, thousands of acres of inland lakes, and its westerly boundary is defined by Lake Michigan. Good surface water quality is paramount to Muskegon County’s (and Michigan’s) economy and quality of life. Clean surface water is also an important part of Muskegon County resident’s lifestyle. The standards for storm water management found within this document are put forth to meet Michigan Department of Environmental Quality‘s storm water management permit requirements. Left & above; examples of nonpoint water pollution. Right & above; examples of good storm water management practices.
