He along with his family members and relatives searched for his sister in all possible means but no use to found her. They are suspecting that their neighbor by name Rakesh of Chebrolu Village, Gollaprolu Mandal might have taken away his sister. So, assessment of ground water quality has always been paramount in the field of environmental quality management. Physico-chemical parameters of groundwater quality based on physic-chemical parameters plays a prominent role in evaluating its suitability for drinking purpose. The present study deals with the determination of water quality index of Thullur mandal, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, in order to ascertain the quality of Groundwater for public consumption, recreation and other purposes. The samples were collected from all 19 villages of Thullur mandal. The samples were analyzed in the laboratory using standard APHA 1985 procedures. From the analyzed data, WQI has been calculated using Weighted Average method. The variations of water quality on different samples were also discussed. Hence, evaluation of groundwater quantity is important for drinking purpose, in the study area monthly wise groundwater samples are collected in selected regions and analyze to determine the physicochemical parameters to assess the quality. The analysis of different parameters such as pH, Turbidity, TDS, Total hardness, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Nitrate, Chloride, Fluorides, Alkalinity, and Iron were carried out as per standard methods in the laboratory. Results showed that Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total 2+ − Hardness (TH), Calcium, Magnesium (Mg ), concentrations are very high and chloride (Cl ), alkalinity were slightly high in few samples of the groundwater. The analysis reveals that the groundwater needs treatment before consumption for drinking purpose. Keywords: Groundwater quality, physicochemical, standards, drinking 1.
