NATIONAL DNHDD launches E- Gyan Mltra mobile appfor online education

 Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu bordering Gujarat has launched E­ Gyan Mitra mobile app for online education. 2nd phase of Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural)  The Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) has moved towards its second phase which is also called ODF­Plus.

 This phase will continue till 2024­25. The Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) has also made remarkable progress in the area of both sanitation and solid waste management.

 Over 4,324 Urban Local Bodies have been declared ODF in the country so far.

 The Swachh Bharat mission has launched in 2014. More than 10 crore individual toilets have been constructed across the country. As a result, rural areas in all the States have declared themselves Open Defecation Free ODF on 2nd October 2019. Unique employment generation program approved

 MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved a unique employment generation program proposed by Khadi and Village Industries Commission, KVIC to make India Atma Nirbhar in Agarbatti production.

 The program named Khadi Agarbatti Atma Nirbhar Mission. The aim of this mission is to create employment for unemployed and migrant workers in different parts of the country.

 Under the scheme, KVIC will provide Automatic Agarbatti making machines and powder mixing machines to the artisans. It also decided to procure only locally made machines by Indian manufacturers.

 KVIC will provide a 25 percent subsidy on the cost of the machines and will recover the remaining 75 percent of the cost from the artisans in easy installments every month. Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2020

 Speaking on occasion, Jagan Mohan Reddy assured that the state government was taking all measures for the safety of vwmen and to prevent crime against them. He said that as a part of this month­long awareness programme, schools, colleges and working women will be trained online by cyber security experts through a You Tube channel. Experts on women safety will give suggestions to women on how they can protect themselves from cyber crimes. The Chief Minister said the campaign would be conducted through short films, animations and reading material to create awareness among women over cyber crimes. He asserted that the cyber wing wil collect all the complaints made by distressed women through Disha app. Cyber Mitra and Disha police station and stem action would be taken against them.

 Reiterating that the state government accords utmost priority to women empowerment the Chief Minister reminded that 50 per cent reservation has been given to them in all sectors.

 Speaking on the occasion, Chief MinisterYS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government was fully focused on women empowerment. “Empowerment of women is not possible until we bring changes in the rural economy, as well as the women from the weaker sections. The AP government is working hard tochange the lives of women and launching YSR Cheyutha scheme on August 12,” he said.

 The Chief Minister said as part of YSR Cheyutha scheme, the government would offer financial assistance to all the SC, ST, BC, Minorities women who are aged between 45­60.

 The state government will implement this scheme in a clean, corruption­free and transparent manner,he said. All the eligible women beneficiaries will get a financial assistance of Rs 75,000 in four years i.e, Rs 18,750 each every year.

 Jagan advised women to make use of this financial assistance to generate employment opportunities for themselves which would provide a steady income. Recently, Amul also signed an MoU with the state government, he said while adding that the government would support and guarantee women in availing bank loans.

 “As of August 12, we are giving about Rs 4,500 crore under this scheme and the state government will implement YSR Asara Scheme in September to sup­port 90 lakh Self­Help Groups (SHGs) with a sum of Rs 6,700 crore annually,” the Chief Min­ister said.

 He said that a total of Rs 44.0 will be provided to each beneficiary in four years i.e Rs 11,000 a year, and around one crore women would be bene­fited with this scheme.

 The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday signed a pact with Hyderabad­based Indian School of Business (ISB) for setting up a public policy lab to achieve economic recovery and growth in the post­ Covid­19 period. According to the MoU, the laboratory called “GoAP­ISB Policy Lab” would be set up that would drive evidence­based policy decisions, the State government said in a statement The lab is modelled on the lines of the policy lab in the UK cabinet that will enable greater synergistic functioning of departments and worktowardsthe objective of economic monitoring, recovery, and devel­opment,” the statement said.

 The lab aims tocreate a knowledge bankfor strategic planning, policy analysis, data analytics and action­ re­search essential for sustaining highergrowth rate.

 It would also focus on investment flows, their efficacy in terms of value addition, employment generation and wealth creation, it said.

 In addition, the State government said it has also collaborated with ISB in developing indicators for monitoring economic recovery in the State, project on Visakhapatnam as growth engine, focus on food processing in Rayalaseema region, improving e­governance, data analytics unshackling informal sector growth and reshaping the skilling programs.  Andhra Pradesh government on Friday kick­started the process for reorganising the districts in the State from 13 to 25 for bringing the administration at the district level closer to the people with the objective of improving the lives of the citizens. Turning each parliamentary constituency into a new district by dividing the existing one is an election promise of the ruling YSR Congress as the present districts “are large in size and have become unwieldy to administer.” Last month, the state Cabinet gave the go­ahead for the district reorganisation plan and, accordingly, a six­ member committee headed by Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney was constituted study.

ECONOMY NITI Aayog suggests ways to boost demand

 With the economy going through a slowdown, the NITI Aayog is of the view that India’s GDP may contract around 5.1 per cent in the current fiscal. In a recent presentation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Ministry, it has suggested ways to boost demand, specifically in the key sectors of automobiles and real estate. As per NITI Aayog, the long­awaited scrap­ page policy should be brought in to he Ip the automobile sector. It has also recommended re­moval of cess on automobiles.

 In a bid to revive demand in the realty sector, it has suggested reinstatement of the subvention scheme which was disallowed last year. Further, the think tank has also recommended government spending as private expenditure and investment is likely to take a back­seat in the current scenario.

 The Reserve Bank on Thursday said it will set up an ‘Innovation Hub’ in the country for ideation and incubation of new capabilities which can be leveraged to deepen financial inclusion and promote efficient banking services. “The Innovation Hub will support, promote and hand­hold cross­thinking spanning regulatory remits and national boundaries,” RBI said in its ‘Statement on Developmental and Regulatory Policies’. The Hub, it added, will act as a centre for ideation and incubation of new capabilities which can be leveraged to create innovative and viable financial products and/or servicesto help achieve the wider objectives of deepening financial inclusion, efficient banking services, business continuity in times of emergency, and strengthening consumer protection, among others. Observing that the Reserve Bank hasconstantly endeavoured to encourage responsible innovation by entities in financial services sector, it said the central bank earlier took various initiatives for setting up Regulatory Sandbox. The Regulatory Sand box framework was one such recent initiative in which digital payments were the first cohort RBI said, adding “six pro­posals were accepted under the Sandbox, the pilot studies/ trials of which have been delayed on account of the present Covid­19 situation.” Economy is extremely weak: RBI

DEATH First US recipient of partial face transplant dead  The first US recipient of a partial face transplant Connie Culp has died. Her age is 57. Nearly 12 years ago she underwent the delicate operation.  The health center listed no cause of death in its tweet on Friday, quoting one of her doctors, Frank Papay, as saying she was a “great pioneer.”  Culp was grievously wounded in 2004 when her husband shot her.  The recipient of the world’s first partial face transplant, Isabelle Dinoire of France, died of cancer in April 2016,11 years after her groundbreaking operation.
