Terna frees the province of Monza Brianza of 19 km of old electricity lines • Within 2018 Terna will demolish around 130 electricity pylons located in the area of Monza Brianza • 7 municipalities will benefit from 50 hectares of land that will be returned to the province Rome, 10th September 2018 - Terna continues its work of rationalisation of local electricity lines to make them more efficient, secure and sustainable. This work ensures that, only in the province of Monza Brianza, around 19 km of old power lines and 130 pylons will be removed. The demolition works that Terna plans to complete within 2018 have been made possible thanks to the entry into service of the 132 kV Stazzona -Verderio line following the significant modernisation works. This new line is generating positive results for the local communities, giving back to the province of Monza Brianza around 50 hectares of land 7 Municipalities will benefit from the demolition of the old power lines: Brughiero, Agrate Brianza, Vimercate, Burago di Molgora, Bellusco, Sulbiate and Aicurzio. The rationalisation works that are part of a larger plan of restructuring for the electricity lines in Lombardy, will also affect the provinces of Milan, Sondrio, Bergamo and Monza Brianza allowing the total demolition of around 150 km of old power lines and around 600 electricity pylons. In Lombardy Terna manages 9,740 km of electricity lines and 135 electricity substations and has 337 employees responsible for the daily security of the regional electricity grid. Lombardy is central to the Company's development strategy with a planned investment of €583 million over the next 5 years for the development and maintenance of the regional electricity grid. .
