When walking near the river, watch out for tree roots. Most of the route is fairly level, but the terrain can be uneven and wet. There are a couple of steady climbs. This mill operated from the early 1600s, making it one of the earliest in the Valley. Rapid development of industry in the 1800s led to the mill prospering. This continued when the water supply improved with the building of dams further up the valley.
