The Québécois embrace winter the way most of us revel in summer, by spending as much time as possible outdoors, regardless of persistent snowfall and, especially, frigid temperatures. Settled within the Laurentian Mountains at the edge of Mont-Tremblant National Park, Mont-Tremblant Resort has celebrated all things winter for 80 years, with no signs of going inside. From a winter via ferrata to village sleigh rides, your roster of outside activities appears infinite. On slope, the second oldest ski resort in North America continues to receive reliable snow – 615cm in 2018-19! There are 755-skiable acres across 101-named runs that also place Tremblant among the elite Eastern North American ski resorts. The Alterra Mountain Company ownership group recently committed US$17 million to on- and off-piste improvements. A new high-speed quad now whisks you away to the popular North Side area. And, because North Americans are nuts for glade/tree skiing, Tremblant added five new glade runs over a 20-hectare area in the advanced Edge area. Alterra also expanded the primary base lodge, Le Grand Manitou, adding 400 more seats and redesigning the food service area. La Fourchette du Daible, the North Side lodge, is also larger and much improved.

DEFINITIONS “Activity” or “Activities” means skiing, snowboarding, ski/ride racing/competition, ski/ride school classes/clinics/lessons, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sno-cat touring, all guided tours of Activities, participation in special events, hiking, uphilling, tubing, tobogganing, and any other use of Resort property or facilities, including, but not limited to, the use of terrain parks and features, mountain coaster, alpine slide, ice skating, zip lines, climbing walls, tubing facility, trampolines, and other amusement events or features, food and beverage and retail locations, rental and use of Equipment, ski/snowboard tuning and repair, base area or village activities, gondolas, chairlifts and other conveyances, buildings and premises, vehicles, sidewalks, stairways, trails, and parking lots. “Agreement” means this “Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Warning, Assumption of Risk, Indemnity, and Consent to Medical Treatment/Transport Agreement.” “Equipment” means all equipment offered for use or rent by the Resort including, but not limited to, skis, snowboards, ski bikes, snowshoes, snowblades, skiboards, boots, poles, bindings, helmets, apparel, goggles, ice skates, tubing tubes or sleds, or exercise equipment or any other snow sliding equipment. “Minor” or “Minor Participant” means the minor(s) participant(s) covered by this Agreement. “Releasors” means all participants signing this Agreement, as well as all participants on behalf of whom any signatory below is signing this Agreement, including without limitation Minor Participants.

    The largest province in Canada by surface area, Québec ranks second in population with 7.6 million people. In 2005, Québec’s gross domestic product was nearly C$275 billion (US$227 billion or €182 billion). Québec’s per capita GDP ranks 19th in the OECD: it is equivalent to the average of OECD countries. Between 2000 and 2004, Québec’s standard of living, i.e. real per capita GDP, rose by more than any other G7 country except the United Kingdom. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) gives Québec preferred access to a market of 435 million consumers, more than 25% of whom live within 1000 km of its largest city, Montréal. Photograph by: Mont-Sainte-Anne Let the parties begin. Tw o of Quebec’s pivotal snow -sports areas are marking significant anniversaries during the 2013-2014 season. Mont Tremblant is celebrating 75 years since it inaugurated the first chairlift in Canada, on Feb. 12, 1939. And Stoneham is turning 50: Quebec City's spirited suburban mountain will host its 10th FIS Snowboard World Cup in January, the last international competition before the Winter Olympics and a rare chance to see thrilling slope-style, the extreme acrobatic highlight of ESPN's X Games. “I am very proud of Mont Tremblant’s anniversary year,” said Olympian Peter Duncan, who grew up at the mountain, trained on its rugged steeps and competed at the 1964 and 1968 Games. “It means we have consistency, continuity and staying power.” Duncan’s grandfather, a blacksmith, arrived in St-Jovite from Scotland in the late 1800s. Later, when the mountain’s development started, Duncan’s father, Charles, was Mont Tremblant’s first employee. “Charlie” was the operations manager who helped to carve the mountain’s first trails, including the Duncan, and installed the first chairlift in Canada in 1939. Tremblant’s founder, rakish American Joe Ryan, named the game-changing contraption the Flying Mile Chair, after his favourite race horse. The ’40s and ’50s were a wild time for a glamorous sport, with rollicking après-ski and a lot of legends.
