HEROIC MOMENT: Thanks to the heroics of goalie Erika Woodbury, the women’s soccer team defeated Georgia in a top-20 showdownon Fri. Sept. 1 in Atlanta. Fifteen minutes before game time, Woodbury jumped headfirst into the post while saving a warm-up shot. Shaken and bleeding from the head, she mustered up her strength and played one of the best games in her career. Trainer Carolyn Billings placed gauze on the wound and taped the majority of her head before kickoff. At halftime, the dressing was replaced as Woodbury had already bled through the bandages. After losing a substantial amount of blood and leading her team to victory, Woodbury was finally able to receive staples. www.byucougars.com 2006 BYU Women’s Soccer
