FAMOUS GUITARISTS FAMOUS GUITARISTS • There Are Many Famous Artists Who Play the Guitar MUSIC FAMOUS GUITARISTS FAMOUS GUITARISTS • There are many famous artists who play the guitar. Here are some of the top ones and some of my favourites. Jimi Hendrix Jimi Hendrix was an American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. His career lasted only 4 years but people think of him as one of the best guitarists of the 20th century. He died of a drugs overdose. He was inspired by American rock and roll and electric blues. He had 3 UK top ten hits with ‘Hey Joe’, ‘Purple Haze’ and ‘The Wind Cries Mary’. Here is a link to Jimi Hendrix performing ‘Purple Haze’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJunCsrhJ jg FAMOUS GUITARISTS Jimmy Page Jimmy Page was the lead guitarist and founder of the rock band Led Zeppelin. My dad told me this as he absolutely loves Led Zeppelin and thinks Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist of all time! He was made famous as he created lots of guitar riffs and tunings and used distorted guitar tones. My dad says that their most famous song is ‘Stairway to Heaven’ which has a Jimmy performing a big guitar solo. Here is a link to Jimmy Page performing the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ guitar solo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q18-Bt6zImg FAMOUS GUITARISTS Eric Clapton Eric Clapton is an English rock and blues guitarist and singer. He was part of the group Cream. His solo career began in the 1970’s. His two most popular recordings were ‘Layla’ and ‘Tears in Heaven’ which he wrote about his dead son. Eric Clapton is also said to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Here is a link to Eric Clapton performing ‘Layla’ at Live Aid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9myqi7VL9s FAMOUS GUITARISTS Angus Young I have chosen to include Angus Young because he is the lead guitarist of one of my favourite bands ACDC. He is famous for his outfits and his own ‘duckwalk’ when he performs the guitar. He is also thought of as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. ‘Highway to Hell’ and ‘Thunderstruck’ are two of their most popular songs that have great guitar solos by Angus. Here is a link to my favourite – ‘Thunderstruck’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_GF N3a0yj0 FAMOUS GUITARISTS Tom Morello Tom Morello is a guitarist who performed with Rage against the Machine. He is best known for his unique guitar playing style which uses feedback noise, picking and tapping. I have chosen to include him as he worked with composer Ramin Djawadi to create and perform the Pacific Rim film theme tune which I love. They did this to bring a big rock feel to the theme to match the robots. Below is a link to the Pacific Rim theme featuring Tom Morello. https://www.youtube.com/wat ch?v=IzMCgyKvcn4 FAMOUS GUITARISTS Tyler Joseph Tyler Joseph is part of 21 Pilots along with Josh Dun. I have included him as 21 Pilots are one of my favourite bands and Josh is very talented and can play a number of instruments. I love their music and have been lucky enough to see them live in concert. Their album Blurryface was one of their most popular albums and the band’s fans crashed their website attempting to pre-order the album. Jack also loves 21 Pilots. His favourite song is ‘Chlorine’ and ‘Nico and the Niners’. My favourite song is ‘Heathens’. FAMOUS GUITARISTS Tyler Joseph Tyler plays the guitar in a lot of songs and plays the Ukulele as well. Below are links to 21 Pilots ‘Ride’ video where you can see Tyler playing the guitar. He also plays the guitar in their Lockdown song ‘Level of Concern’ which is really good. The link is below. You can also upload you own video to their music video of this! I had to also put this link in as my mum absolutely loves the piano introduction to ‘Heathens’ that they https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw-0pbY9JeU performed in concert. Tyler also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loOWKm8GW6A performs this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzK7jit4CVI .

The Guitar, the Steamship and the Picnic: England on the Move Transcript Date: Thursday, 11 December 2014 - 1:00PM Location: St. Sepulchre Without Newgate 11 December 2014 The Guitar, the Steamship and the Picnic: England on the Move Professor Christopher Page I would like to begin with a poem by William Blake, first published in his collection Songs of Innocence in 1789. Many of you will know it; it is entitled The Chimney Sweeper, and you have it, in Blake’s illustrated copy, on the first page of your handout: When my mother died I was very young, And my father sold me while yet my tongue Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep! So your chimneys I sweep & in soot I sleep. There’s little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head That curled like a lamb’s back, was shaved, so I said, “Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head’s bare, You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair.” And so he was quiet, and that very night, As Tom was a-sleeping he had such a sight! That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, & Jack, Were all of them locked up in coffins of black; And by came an Angel who had a bright key, And he opened the coffins & set them all free; Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run, And wash in a river and shine in the Sun. Then naked and white, all their bags left behind, They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind. And the Angel told Tom, if he’d be a good boy, He'd have God for his father & never want joy.

LEO CARRILLO CALIFORNIA HISTORY & ART PROGRAM PROJECT TITLE: Fine-Tuning Guitar Art THEME: Spanish Guitar AGE: Fourth Grade PROJECT INTRODUCTION: Students will learn about the history of the classical Spanish guitar that was a part of the lifestyle at the Leo Carrillo Ranch. Students will be introduced to the famous Mexican folksong “La Golondrina”, a melody played on the guitar and cherished by Leo Carrillo. Students will create and design their own Spanish guitar inspired work of art through mixed media using collage and illustration, personalizing their artwork with intentional images and meaning. ART PROJECT INSPIRATION: SPANISH GUITAR The guitar is one of the most popular and widespread musical instruments played today. It is actually the second most played instrument, with the first being the piano. A person who makes guitars is called a “luthier”. A person who plays the guitar is called a “guitarist”. Guitarists play the guitar by plucking or strumming the strings with their fingers, fingernails, or a pick. There are several types of guitars: Classical, Electric, Steel, Flamenco, 12 String and many more. It was the classical guitar, also known as the Spanish guitar that had a special presence at the Leo Carrillo Ranch. Music played on the Spanish guitar reminded Leo Carrillo of his family history and was very much a part of the life he experienced as a child growing up. The word guitar was adopted into English from the Spanish word “guitarra” in the 1600’s. The country of Spain has had an extraordinary impact on the development of the classical guitar. Spaniards in Andalusia during the 1790’s took the guitar to new heights when they added a sixth string to it.

One year ago, on the first anniversary of the tragedy that took this gift away from our daughter, we were contemplating what we would say to the students and families that gathered at the school to remember our daughter.

  • Chapter I Introduction
CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION This chapter deals with the topics of background of study, statement of problems, purpose of study, scope and limitation, significance of study, and definition of key terms. 1.1. Background of Study Language as a tool of communication is really important in human life; it has strong influence to the society relationship. Anggraini and Sudiran (2014:2), people use language to have relationship in the society; without language, people cannot interact and communicate to other. Language provides arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols which have the same roles to express human’s feelings, emotions and ideas. Therefore, literature that provides pleasure cannot be separated from language. Literature is basically divided into some types or genres. Turco (1999:9- 10) points out the types that are also called as genres that can be found in literature: Fiction, drama, poetry, and nonfiction. Each category consists of subgenres, such as novel, novella, novelette (long story), short story, short - short story (very short story), episode (one incident or even; in a longer work of fiction), and anecdote (a short account often of humorous interest) that belong to fiction; the tragedy, comedy, tragicomedy, and skit (a short dramatic presentation of a humorous or satiric turn) that belong to drama; the autobiography, biography, essay and discourse that belong to nonfiction; lyric, verse narrative, and verse drama that belong to poetry. 1 In making a literary work, the creative writers are not primarily concerning with the actual truth of particular events but also their imagination. Afterward, literature is a term used to describe written or spoken material into more technical works.

  • THE BOOGIE! a NIGHTCLUB THAT DEFIED TRADITIONAL PROBLEM SOLVING EFFORTS Or When Jack Met SARA
THE BOOGIE! A NIGHTCLUB THAT DEFIED TRADITIONAL PROBLEM SOLVING EFFORTS or when Jack met SARA Anaheim Police Department South District Community Policing Team Tourist Oriented Policing Team District Commander, Lieutenant David Vangsness Summary The Boogie, a nightclub that operated in Anaheim for over 25 years, maintained a reputation as one of the most popular clubs in Southern California. It operated under various banners including: The Crescendo, The Cowboy, The Bandstand, The Cowboy- Boogie and finally The Boogie. Each change in name represented a change in both the music format and the clientele who patronized the club. What remained constant were the challenges the club created for the community. As is often the case, the police department would be the driving force in addressing these challenges. The Boogie brought all of the common problems expected of a large nightclub. As with any concentration of alcohol, high-energy music and young adults, the club’s problems included: fights, intoxicated patrons and parking and traffic congestion. Beyond these “traditional” problems, in later years The Boogie severely impacted surrounding businesses, forcing them to hire security, close their doors during peak hours, and endure ongoing customer complaints. As the club evolved into a Hip-Hop and Rap format, stabbings, shootings and firearms seizures became routine. Two homicides were committed by patrons leaving the club in its last year of operation, 2006. The Anaheim Police Department became stuck in a recurring loop while trying to solve the challenges in and around The Boogie. Scanning revealed a problem; analysis suggested a fix; responses were usually effective; but assessment often turned into a new round of response and assessment, as a problem recurred, or a new problem arose.
