Clearly Now Custom for Carlos G.W.'S D'oro The Choice is Clear For 2020 Vision Choose Clear Creek Stud 2020 Stallions CLEARLY NOW CUSTOM FOR CARLOS G.W .’S D’ORO HALF OURS PEPPERED CAT STAR GUITAR TRUST FACTOR e are pleased to welcome you again to Clear Creek Stud, LLC Wand appreciate you joining us for our Annual Stallion Presentation. We are always happy to share an afternoon and lunch with you and are gratified for the opportunity to renew our com - mitment to serve you in whatever capacity we can with our focus primarily on foaling and breeding your mares. We enjoy this gath - ering, connecting with old friends and meeting new ones, and we look forward each year for this chance to visit and discuss matters most relevant to our industry and consider how to best utilize and promote all that is offered by our strong Louisiana State Breeders' Program that remains the envy of the nation. A new breeding and foaling season comes with much planning and hard work and it is welcomed with keen anticipation and excitement. Again this year, Clear Creek Stud, LLC will offer clients nicking systems that have garnered worldwide recognition and support at no charge, i.e. Enicks, True Nicks and G1 Goldmine Stallion Watch. These tools are often greatly beneficial in helping prospective breeders choose a stallion. We are proud of our strong Stallion Roster for 2020 and confident that you will find a match to serve your purpose. At Clear Creek Stud, we go to great lengths to offer Stallions that will be suitable to your particular needs as a breeder, whether your program is directed toward the commercial market or producing runners capable of competing on a national level. We are fortunate to stand an elite group of stallions with the pedigrees and conformation that would make them desirable not only in this region, but nationally as well. This year we have two new stallions we are adding to our stallion roster. Peppered Cat, who has previously stood in California, is a son of Preakness and Belmont winner Tabasco Cat. He is the sire of multiple Graded Stakes winner Pepper Crown. Trust Factor will commence his stud career at Clear Creek Stud in 2020. He is a son of Grade I winner Paddy O’Prado and won mul- tiple stakes here in Louisiana on his way to earning $335,958. This year and every year, the horse industry continues to be incred - ibly important to the Louisiana economy. A recent Economic Impact Study of the horse industry in Louisiana reports that Louisiana horse racing facilities and races generated over $1 billion in gaming in the United States. This study was conducted by Dek Terrell Ph.D. of Lewis, Terrell and Associates states that the total direct injection from the Louisiana horse racing industry into Louisiana’s economy for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016 was $578 million. Louisiana horse racing created a total of 12,640 Louisiana jobs, which translate into $328 million in earnings gener - ated during the most recent year. Louisiana received over $64 mil - lion directly from the horse industry in state taxes during the fiscal year ended June 30, 2016. When taxes generated indirectly are included, state tax revenues from horse racing are over $73 mil - lion. I would suggest that you make every effort to communicate to our State Legislators, especially the newly elected ones, what our industry contributes to the economic well being of our state, partic - ularly through the creation of numerous jobs. We appreciate their past efforts and support and look forward to working with them in the coming year to keep the horse industry healthy throughout the state. Clear Creek is a family owned and operated business. As Head of Maintenance and Operations, Trey LaVoice keeps our facility in top notch condition and running smoothly. Michelle Murrell LaVoice, the Farm Manager and a seasoned professional, along with her dedicated and skilled support staff, will continue to provide the attention to detail in every aspect of the daily routine, making sure that the usual is accomplished unusually well. The office staff including Lisa Hobbs with the assistance of Sally Blackwell, Laura Kenny, April Savoy, and Brandy Schillesci, remain at your service to ensure any questions you might have are answered and that you have any information or help with business matters that arise over the course of time. For now we want to thank you for coming and considering the Clear Creek Stallions and hope you enjoy the day. 11591 Hwy 1078, Folsom, LA 70437 • 985-796-5563 • Fax 985-796-3630 www.clearcreekstud.com • e-mail: [email protected] CLEARLY NOW Horse Greeley - Bend, by Arch MULTIPLE GRADED STAKES WINNING MILLIONAIRE GRADE 1 PLACED RETIRED WITH $1,146,138 IN EARNINGS WON OR PLACED IN 15 STAKES - 10 GRADED STAKES CONCLUDED HIS RACING CAREER SETTING A NEW TRACK RECORD AT GULFSTREAM PARK AWtO 2 NA lEloVwEaRncYe YWEinAnRe rF, PRlaOcMed A3rGd EinS t h2e TDHisRplOayU SGtaHk e7 s at Woodbine At 3 WON G3 Bold Ruler Handicap at Belmont Park, G3 Swale Stakes at Gulfstream Park; 2nd G3 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Racing, G3 Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct, Charlie Barley Stakes at Woodbine; 3rd G2 Woody Stephens Stakes at Belmont, G3 Holy Bull Stak es at Gulfstream Park At 4 WON G3 Belmont Sprint Championship Stake s at Belmont; 3rd G1 Carter Handicap at Aqueduct, G2 Churchill Downs Stakes at Churchill Downs. 2016 BELMONT STAKES GUIDE Presented by: Maryland Jockey Chris Aplin Michael Spector Club Lani to run all Triple Crown races Exaggerator winning the Preakness Frosted training in Saratoga for Met Mile guaranteedtipsheet.com racingdudes.com June 9, 2016 Page 1 of 14 Belmont Stakes Welcome! Thank you for purchasing the 2016 Belmont Stakes Guide presented by Guaranteed Tip Sheet and RacingDudes.com! The Belmont Stakes is the final jewel of the elusive Triple Crown, but will not get as much hype this year since no horse will be going for the Triple Crown. Called “The Test of the Champion,” the Belmont Stakes is run at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY, in early June. It is the oldest of the Triple Crown races and was first run in 1867. The race is the longest of the Triple Crown races ran at the grueling distance of 1½ miles for 3 year olds on the main dirt track. This year’s edition of the Belmont Stakes will be run on Saturday, June 11 at approximately 6:37 p.m. (EDT). This “2016 Belmont Stakes Guide presented by Guaranteed Tip Sheet and RacingDudes.com” will give you the information needed to hopefully make a nice return on one of the biggest days of horse racing of the year. With $7.5 million in purse money over 10 stakes races on the day representing most of the divisions in the sport, the Belmont Stakes day card is the summer version of the Breeders’ Cup on the east coast. This Belmont Stakes Guide will highlight all 10 Stakes races on Saturday, June 11 at Belmont Park and break down each race as follows: 1.

By Mike Shutty, HorseRacingNation.com Early Edition HORSE RACING NATION’S KENTUCKY DERBY SUPER SCREENER INTRODUCTION There are countless ways to dissect the probable Kentucky Derby field in search of the ultimate winner. Dosage Index, Dual Qualifier status, pedigree, Speed Ratings, prep race quality, Graded Stakes wins, workouts days before the Derby and a trainer’s Derby record are just a few of the criteria that people use when assessing a field of probable Derby contenders. These types of factors fall in and out of favor over the years and each has had its share of success in helping track down a Kentucky Derby winner. Each year, we are reminded of other important, proven screening criteria we should keep in mind as we handicap the Kentucky Derby. Examples would include the following: • Don’t bet to win on Derby entrants that have never run as a 2 year-old. Most recently, Curlin and Bodemeister tried to overcome this long-standing tenant but both came up a bit short in their respective Kentucky Derby endeavors. • Only one horse (Regret) has ever won the Derby off just 3 lifetime starts (make that only two horses now that Big Brown achieved this feat in 2008) • Post position 20 has never produced a winner (Big Brown busted that one as well and I’ll Have Another won from the 19 hole in 2012 so this screening criteria weakens some as a result) • Must have a final prep race run at the mile and eighth distance (Charismatic was able to break that barrier in winning the 1999 Kentucky Derby as have several second place Derby finishers) • Must

DAVID COYLE DAVID KEENELAND.COM K SUMMER 2018 27 spotlight on MIKE RYAN o call Mike Ryan just a bloodstock agent is an understatement. The 35-plus-year veteran of the Thoroughbred breeding industry tdoes far more than cherry-pick pros- pects from a sales catalog. He is also a successful breeder and pinhooker — scooping up under-the-radar yearlings to flip at a profit — a successful own- er, and a trusted adviser on everything from choosing a trainer to mating a mare. To say he excels at buying horses — well, another underestimation. Ryan has more than a flair for finding a year- ling with the right stuff. What he has is more like a prophetic vision: He can eyeball a gangly colt or filly and come up Inspecting horses on the farms often means navigating fences and other with a pretty clear picture of what the obstacles. youngster will look like charging down the stretch as a 3-year-old. And never has Ryan’s sagacity been more on dis- play than in the past year or so as hors- es with his name in their provenance have racked up win after win in classic races and Breeders’ Cup contests.
