WYOMING HORSE RACING LLC PRESENTS THE 2015 “ROAD TO THE DERBY” CONTEST Over $3,000 in Cash Prizes! Including a $1,000 Voucher to the Winner! Rules and Conditions First: Choose a stable of twenty (20) horses from the list of early Triple Crown nominees available at each OTB site and online on our website www.wyominghorseracing.com OR www.wyominghorseracingdata.com Second: Follow the directions and return your contest entry form to any of our OTB locations by Saturday Feb 14th @12:00 PM. E-Mail entries can be emailed to: [email protected] on or before Saturday Feb 14th @ 12:00 PM, one entry per email address. If you do not receive a Reply email from us please call: 307-224-4960 to insure that we did receive your entry. Write-in horses will be accepted based upon legibility (If we can’t read it, you don’t get the horse). No stable changes will be made after the running of the first contest race on Saturday Feb 14th, other than corrections to typographical errors during data entry. Third: One entry per person ages 18 and older. Must be a Wyoming Horse Racing OTB/HHR Customer. Fourth: All prize winners must show identification to collect prize money. Prize money awarded at each OTB site, see Manager for details. *All OTB employees and family members are not eligible to win prizes; employees will have their own contest for bragging rights and prizes. * All races are scored according to the grading or non-grading of the selected races. Races are selected according to date, grade and distance of the race. Management has final decision over all disputes and those decisions are final! WHRLLC is not responsible for conditions of track or cancellation of the selected race due to weather conditions. Nor are we responsible for scratches or injured entries. It is up to the entrant to determine if a horse will be out of the running for the Kentucky Derby due to ineligibility or injury. Your entry cannot be changed after Saturday Feb 14th @ 12:00 PM. * Please be sure that the horse name and number on your entry match! If they do not match we will use the written horse name as a default, no notification will be given for this! CONTEST RACES AND SCORING Points are accumulated on the “Road to the Derby” based on your stable’s finish in each Kentucky Derby prep race. Three extra points will be awarded to each horse that makes it to the “Derby Gate”.     The History of Oaklawn Park 1900s Desiring to build a track closer to downtown, John Condon and Dan Stuart, who also ran Southern Club and Turf Exchange, a popular downtown Hot Springs night spot, and brothers Louis and Charles Cella of St. Louis formed the Oaklawn Jockey Club in 1904. Celebrated Chicago architect Zachary Taylor Davis is hired to design Oaklawn’s glass-enclosed, heated grandstand – among the first of its kind in the country. The grandstand reportedly seated 1,500 people and cost $500,000. Davis designed Wrigley Field, the longtime home of the Chicago Cubs, a decade later. Feb. 15, 1905 – The inaugural meet opens and runs through March 18. 1910s March 11, 1916 – Owner Louis A. Cella returns racing to Oaklawn after nine years 1 of political uncertainty in Arkansas. Cella, from St. Louis, was a bookmaker, horseman and financier and started running tracks, both in his hometown and in New Orleans. He later joined his brother, Charles J. Cella in operating Douglas Park and Latonia Race Course in Kentucky. For a time, they challenged the preeminence of Matt Winn and Churchill Downs in the Blue Grass state. Fabled mare Pan Zareta won the feature that opening day and goes 3-for-3 on the meet. March 8, 1917 – After one race in Mexico, Old Rosebud makes a winning debut at Oaklawn, 33 months after winning the Kentucky Derby in 1914. He would win again a week later, but would finish third at 137 lbs. to Pan Zareta at 113 when they met March 24. Old Rosebud would turn the tables April 6 in an allowance race en route to leading the nation in handicap earnings that year.
