February 7, 2005 The Lieutenant Governor in Council orders that (a) effective January 1, 2005, the land described in Appendix A and shown on the sketch in Appendix B is separated from Lamont County and annexed to the Town of Mundare, (b) any taxes owing to Lamont County at the end of December 31, 2004 in respect of the annexed land are transferred to and become payable to the Town of Mundare together with any lawful penalties and costs levied in respect of those taxes, and the Town of Mundare upon collecting those taxes, penalties and costs must pay them to Lamont County, and (c) the assessor for the Town of Mundare must assess, for the purposes of taxation in 2005 and subsequent years, the annexed land and the assessable improvements to it. Community Development Notice of Receipt of a Repatriation Application (Blackfoot First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation) Pursuant to the First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Act (FNSCORA) and the Blackfoot Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation made under that Act, the Province of Alberta as represented by the Minister of Community Development hereby gives notice of receipt of a repatriation application from a member of the Piikani First Nation for an object in the Government of Alberta’s collections at the Provincial Museum of Alberta. - 577 - THE ALBERTA GAZETTE, PART I, MARCH 15, 2005 The application is for repatriation of the Two Guns - White Calf Beaver Bundle (catalogue no. H89.220.371). The bundle originated with the Montana Blackfeet, and includes a water pipe, animal and bird skins, rattles, a tartan woolen shawl, vegetable fibre and rawhide bags, and other diverse elements. The bundle was purchased by the Provincial Museum of Alberta in 1989. Any person with interest in this object who either wishes to make representations to the Minister relating to this application or to submit an application of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice in The Alberta Gazette. Repatriation of the Two Guns - White Calf Beaver Bundle to the Long Time Trail Historical Society, as the designated representative of the Piikani First Nation, may proceed after the 30 day period if the object listed in the application is determined to meet the criteria of a sacred ceremonial object as defined in FNSCORA, if no additional applications or contrary representations have been made, and if the Minister considers repatriation to be appropriate. ______________ Pursuant to the First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Act (FNSCORA) and the Blackfoot Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation made under that Act, the Province of Alberta as represented by the Minister of Community Development hereby gives notice of receipt of a repatriation application from a member of the Siksika First Nation for an object in the Government of Alberta’s collections at the Provincial Museum of Alberta. The application is for the repatriation of a Motoki Society Bow and Arrow Bundle (catalogue nos. H66.200.1a-h), which originated with the Siksika First Nation. It consists of a bow, an arrow, and cloth wrappings, and was used by the Motoki Society for the Sundance. It was purchased by the Provincial Museum of Alberta in 1966. Any person with interest in this object who either wishes to make representations to the Minister relating to this application or to submit an application of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice in The Alberta Gazette. The application is for the repatriation of the Crowshoe Natoas Headdress Bundle, which originated with the Piikani First Nation (catalogue nos. H69.197.1-46g). The bundle was used in the Sundance ceremony and contains the distinctive headdress worn by the Holy Woman, a badger and other skins, a digging stick, and other items. The museum purchased the bundle in 1969. Any person with interest in this object who wishes either to make representations to the Minister relating to this application or to submit an application of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice in The Alberta Gazette. It consists of an ochred coyote skin and a parfleche and originated with the Blood Tribe. It was purchased by the Provincial Museum of Alberta in 1966.
