VALIANCE settled in hand, launched her bid circling five wide, churned on through a long drive and was all out to earn the place. DUNBAR ROAD settled saving ground, was blocked and altered course to the far outside leaving the second turn, kicked on well and was gaining with every stride. HARVEST MOON disputed the pace along the inside, weakened during the drive and gave way. CE CE settled off of the inside, angled out five wide but toiled fruitlessly. POINT OF HONOR lagged well back, swung to the far outside and made a belated improvement. SWISS SKYDIVER stumbled at the start, settled toward the inside, commenced a bold bid with seven-sixteenths to run, got through and loomed a danger but failed to sustain the drive. OLLIE'S CANDY was close up between horses through the second turn and faded. HOROLOGIST was forwardly placed toward the inside, but came up empty leaving the second turn and retreated. LADY KATE was away alertly, contested the pace outside of HARVEST MOON to the second turn, was collared between runners and stopped. • Wednesday Distaff Notes
Breeders’ Cup World Championships Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7 Longines Distaff Notes Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 Contact: Notes Team, 859-250-0358 Ce Ce – Bo Hirsch’s Ce Ce galloped on the main track under Osman Cedeno just after it opened for training at 6 o’clock Wednesday morning as she continued her preparation for a start in Saturday’s $2 million Longines Distaff. Trained by Michael McCarthy, Ce Ce started 2020 with three consecutive victories including Grade 1 scores in the Beholder Mile at Santa Anita and the Apple Blossom at Oaklawn Park. Since then, she has two thirds followed by a fourth sprinting in the Derby City Distaff at Churchill Downs in her most recent start. “It is not her fault,” McCarthy said. “She has had some excuses and there were some errors in judgment on my part. She is doing as well as she ever has.” John Velazquez, who has won the Distaff twice, has the mount Saturday. Dunbar Road – Grade 1 winner Dunbar Road galloped 1m of the Keeneland main track on Wednesday morning, per trainer Chad Brown. The earner of $1,016,040 goes after win number seven in her 11th start Saturday in the Longines Distaff. Fifth of 11 last year in the $2 million fixture, the Peter Brant- owned daughter of Quality Road will be ridden by Jose Ortiz, who has been aboard for five of her six wins. “She didn’t break that well last time (when third in the Beldame),” Ortiz said. “I think the last race looks kind of bad, but it was also a really heavy track.

146th Running of the Longines Kentucky Oaks Sets Record as Fastest in History as Shedaresthedevil Claims the Lillies September 4, 2020 LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 04, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 146th running of the $1.25 million Longines Kentucky Oaks (Grade I) saw Shedaresthedevil claim the Lillies in the fastest Kentucky Oaks race in history at 1:48.28. Shedaresthedevil crossed the finish line first in a field of nine under sunny skies and fast track conditions. “Congratulations to the connections of Shedaresthedevil and special thanks to all of the horse owners, trainers and jockeys who enthusiastically cooperated through a number of protocol changes this year,” said Kevin Flanery, President of Churchill Downs Racetrack. “We were thrilled to be able to host a virtual Survivors tribute and to continue our charitable partnership with Norton Breast Health Center and Derby Divas.” Shedaresthedevil, owned by Qatar Racing, Flurry Racing Stables and Big Aut Farms and bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm, LLC, passed ultimate third-place finisher Gamine at the 1/8th pole and held off a late run from runner-up Swiss Skydiver to win the Longines Kentucky Oaks by 1 1/2 lengths at odds of 15-1 in a final time of 1:48.28, the fastest in Kentucky Oaks history. Jockey Florent Geroux and trainer Brad Cox connected for their second Oaks victory, having also shared victory in 2018 with today’s La Troienne victor, Monomoy Girl. The Kentucky Oaks Survivors Parade presented by Kroger was celebrated virtually on Kentucky Derby social media channels with a video montage of the 146 survivors’ powerful and uplifting stories.

  • Wednesday Distaff Notes
Breeders’ Cup World Championships Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff Notes Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2019 Contact Notes Team: 859-250-0358 Blue Prize – Merriebelle Stable’s Blue Prize galloped 1 3/8m under exercise rider Hiram Rosario Wednesday morning as she continued preparations for a second run in the $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff. Trainer Ignacio Correas IV was asked about his confidence level for the 6yo Argentina-bred mare going into this year’s Distaff as opposed to 2018 at Churchill Downs when she finished fourth behind champion Monomoy Girl. “These Grade 1s are always tough and it is the same this year with five, six, seven Grade 1 winners in there,” Correas said. “Last year it was Monomoy Girl and this year it is Midnight Bisou. “You try to be competitive going into these races and I feel very good about my horse. But there are other people that feel good, too; another 10 people.” The Distaff figures to be the last hurrah for Blue Prize with Correas as she is in the Nov. 5 Fasig-Tipton November Sale in Lexington, Kentucky. “She is in the peak of condition,” Correas said. “She has given me three good years.” Dunbar Road – A winner of four of six since her career began in March, Dunbar Road will step up in Saturday’s Distaff for owner Peter Brant and trainer Chad Brown. On Wednesday morning, the Alabama winner left Barn 48 with stablemates Sistercharlie and Bricks and Mortar and proceeded to gallop an easy 1¼m over the main track of Santa Anita Park.
