She will look to make one final start in the G2 Beldame before heading to Santa Anita for her 4-year-old finale in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff. She presents a unique opportunity for her buyers to campaign a likely Champion through the rest of her career. Midnight Bisou edges Elate in the G1 Personal Ensign PAST PERFORMANCES Not only does MIDNIGHT BISOU have 5 G1 wins and 5 100+ Beyer figures to her name, she is also a throwback to the classic race mare epitomized by durability and soundness. Since debuting in October of her 2-year-old year, MIDNIGHT BISOU has run 17 times in 22 months at 9 different tracks and has NEVER finished off the board. THE MAGIC OF MIDNIGHT In her career debut at 2, MIDNIGHT BISOU ran 2nd, beaten a nose by eventual G1W DREAM TREE, running six furlongs in 1:10 2/5 at Santa Anita. She went on to miss three weeks later by the same margin in the Desi Arnaz at Del Mar, once again behind G1W DREAM TREE. AS A 3-YEAR-OLD, BISOU found her best stride and started the year with a bang posting a 4 ½ lengths score in the G2 Santa Ynez at Santa Anita. From there, she went on a roll, winning 3 consecutive Graded Stakes including the G1 Santa Anita Oaks before heading to the G1 Kentucky Oaks where she went off favored. While ultimately finishing a fast closing 3rd with a troubled trip in the Oaks, BISOU lost nothing in defeat behind eventual Champion MONOMOY GIRL and would get back to her winning ways with a 6-length score in the G2 Mother Goose at Belmont, besting G2W ROAD TO VICTORY and G2W MY MISS LILLY. She would earn two G1-placings in the G1 Coaching Club American Oaks and G1 Alabama before taking the G1 Cotillion at Parx after a long stretch duel, getting the better of MONOMOY GIRL. The pair were more than 13-lenths clear of MGSW-millionaire WONDER GADOT, G1W SEPARATIONOFPOWERS, G2W CHOCOLATE MARTINI and G3W DIXIE SERENADE. Midnight Bisou strolls to victory in the G2 Mother Goose THE MAGIC OF MIDNIGHT THORO-GRAPH MIDNIGHT BISOU would go on to finish her year with a close 3rd-place finish in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff before being named anEclipse Award finalist in the 3-Year-Old Filly Division. THIS YEAR AS A 4-YEAR-OLD, MIDNIGHT BISOU has taken her game to a whole new level. She has won 6 straight Graded Stakes from as many starts including 3 Grade 1s, each at different tracks. She’s defeated top distaff mare MG1W ELATE 3 times. She’s defeated G1Ws COME DANCING, SHE’S A JULIE, WOW CAT, ESKIMO KISSES, and SHAMROCK ROSE. Midnight Bisou takes the G1 Ogden Phipps with ease She has cemented herself as the likely Champion in her division this year, putting on as elite of a campaign as any horse we’ve seen in recent years and is deservedly is in the conversation for HORSE OF THE YEAR. A huge positive in her pedigree is that she represents an outcross to a majority of the top stallions, not only across the United States, but the world. PASSPORT Midnight Bisou training for the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff SUMMARY Midnight Bisou is poised to become the Champion Older Mare of 2019, with a chance to become the firstfemale Horse of the Year since Havre de Grace in 2011. The highest all-time attendance record for the Kentucky Oaks of 124,589 was set just last year under perfect weather. Wagering from all-sources on the full Kentucky Oaks Day race card of $48.9 million was down only slightly to 2016's record- setting total of $49.0 million and represents the second highest all-sources wagering on Oaks Day. • Overview Friday
OVERVIEW This year’s Breeders’ Cup races are at Santa Anita in southern California. The highlight may be the showdown between the highest earning horse in American history, California Chrome, and Arrogate who ran one of the fast races ever in winning the Travers in the BC Classic. But Friday’s Distaff is pretty exciting also with unbeaten three year old Songbird facing Beholder and Stellar Wind. There’s also the Mile on Saturday in which superstar filly Tepin tries to beat males for the second year in a row. The Turf, also on Saturday, has the filly that won the prestigious Arc in Paris last month facing top males including some pretty good ones from America. I’m going to list my top contenders, in order, for each race. The horses listed are the ones I think have a strong shot of winning. In many cases the best bet may not be the top horse. Longshots win in the BC all the time and its worth going after a few price plays. My preferred wagers are daily doubles and pick threes in which I advise using all of my listed horses in each race. These picks are made before any races are run. I will be flexible and so should you. If one trainer’s horses are over- or under-achieving, move the rest up or down. If the track seems to be biased toward a particular running style that has to be factored in as well. In other words, I might change my mind but the picks here won’t be able to be updated.

Gimme Da Lute over Prospect Park in Los Alamitos Derby or the second time in less than one month, Gimme Da Lute got the better of Prospect Park, holding off his rival by a nose to win the Grade II, $350,000 Los Alamitos Derby Saturday. The 1-2 finishers in the Grade III Affirmed Stakes FJune 7 at Santa Anita dominated the Derby, finishing nearly eight lengths in front of pacesetter and 2-5 favorite Kentuckian. Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert for owner-breed- ers Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman, Gimme Da Lute, a 3-year-old son of Midnight Lute and the Proud Citizen mare Casino Gold, tracked the leader for most of the 1 1/8 miles, got the lead entering the long stretch and scored under jockey Martin Garcia as the 3-1 second choice. The win in 1:47.09 was the fourth in seven starts for Gimme Da Lute and the $210,000 payday increased his bankroll to $457,560. He paid $8.60 and $4.20.The place price on Prospect Park, the 7-2 third choice, was $4.20. There was no show wagering. Although Gimme Da Lute had started his career win- Gimme Da Lute holds off Prospect Park ning two of three races at 5 ½ and 6 ½ furlongs, Baffert said he realized after the Affirmed - which is run at 1 1/16 miles - the colt had wanted more distance all along. (Saturday, June 27, 2020) – Tom’s d’Etat delivered a brilliant performance in Saturday’s 39th running of the $500,000 Stephen Foster presented by Coca-Cola (Grade II) at Churchill Downs as the 7-year-old horse collected his fourth consecutive stakes win while defeating By My Standards by 4 ¼ lengths and clocking 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.30 – just .02 off Victory Gallop’s 1999 track and stakes record. Trained by Al Stall Jr. and owned by Gayle Benson’s G M B Racing and named for her late husband Tom Benson of New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans fame, Tom’s d’Etat sat just behind Pirate’s Punch, who led the field of eight older horses through fractions of :23.89 and :48.13. Midway around the far turn with three furlongs to run, jockey Miguel Mena asked Tom’s d’Etat to poke his head in front. Under a hand ride, Tom’s d’Etat drew off in the stretch and was utterly superior as By My Standards attempted to close ground. “I knew he was a lot of fun to ride him in the morning but didn’t realize how much fun he was in the afternoon,” said Mena, who was given an opportunity to ride Tom’s d’Etat when regular jockey Joel Rosario opted to ride champion Uni (GB) to a third- place finish in the $250,000 Just a Game (GI) at Belmont Park in New York.
