ATHLETE Official Publication of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association CHAMPIOM ^^ij^'' 38^ 1992 Game GuyAward LUDLOW JUNIOR AWARDED "GAME GUY" TROPHY Kentucky High School Athletic Association Commissioner Billy V. Wise has announced the winnerof 1 991 -92 "Game Guy Award. "The award is presented by the KHSAA to a high school student-athlete in the state who has overcome a physical handicap to compete in athletics. The unanimous choice of the award committee for the 1991 -92 award is Mr. Brandon Claypool, a junior at Ludlow High School. Brandon suffers from a disease called Sacral Agnesis which is a malformation of the sacrum Brandon Claypool and the nerves at the end of the spine. The symptoms related to the disease include unde- veloped muscles in the lower legs and feet, and internal complications. He has had surgery on both arches and heels. On two seperate occassions doctors have told him he may never walk again. He takes medication on a daily basis for an indefinite amount of time. He also has tendonitis and arthritis in his knees, ankles and lower back. Brandon's mother died when he was in his freshman year at Ludlow High School. He now lives with his grandmother and uncle. Despite all of these problems, Brandon has strived to be his best. He maintains a 3.3 grade point average, despite missing 40 days of school for hospital visits. He spends many hours in the weight room strengthing his upper body to compensate for his medical complications in the lower body. Brandon is a three year letterman in track where he is a pole vaulter and throws the discus while wearing bulky rib and back protectors. During his career in Track he has received one gold medal, six silver medals and one fourth place ribbon. The KHSAA salutes Brandon Claypool and all of the other overachievers that make high school athletics special. It is 4 Volleyball packed with pictures and results of all the KHSAA sanctioned state championships of the past year. You have seen many changes in The Athlete 10 Football over the past year and many more are slated for the future.     2017-2018 COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY GRADE POINT AVERAGE Beechwood calculates yearly GPAs on a 4.0 point scale. Grades in AP ADMISSIONS SCHOOL PROFILE classes are weighted and add one more point per class to the students’ GPAs. Beechwood does not rank. The highest grade at Beechwood is A, but as a result of weighting for AP classes, some students earn a final cumulative GPA higher than 4.0.     Fort Mitchell FOCUS Dear Residents, There are a lot of new and exciting things in the works for the City of Fort Mitchell. We are actively exploring a partnership with Beechwood Schools to place a School Resource Officer (SRO) in the school. The daily presence of an SRO would be beneficial for the students and staff while providing all of us with additional peace of mind. We are hopeful that we will be able to achieve this partnership in the coming months, continuing a concerted effort for the City to partner with Superintendent Dr. Hutton, and the Beechwood School Board. Our city staff has done a wonderful job in securing grants. In the last six months Fort Mitchell has secured over $35,000 in safety and Homeland Security related grants. It is refreshing to see some of our tax dollars returned to benefit our community. You probably have seen recent newspaper articles about the demolition of the Summer Issue 2014 Drawbridge. We are hopeful that we will be able to share a development plan for this project in the coming months, which contains the details and amenities we www.fortmitchell.com hope to bring to the area with the project’s developers on this critical project for our community.     2018-2019 COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY GRADE POINT AVERAGE Beechwood calculates yearly GPAs on a 4.0 point scale. Grades in AP ADMISSIONS SCHOOL PROFILE classes are weighted and add one more point per class to the students’ GPAs. Beechwood does not rank. The highest grade at Beechwood is A, but as a result of weighting for AP classes, some students earn a final cumulative GPA higher than 4.0. Non-GPA bearing classes include any high school class taken in 7th or 8th grade, Service Learning, and Study Hall.
