Maria Kalaniemen Juhlavuosi Huipentuu Marraskuussa Etnosoi!Ssa Tiedote 17.10.2013 julkaisuvapaa heti MARIA KALANIEMEN JUHLAVUOSI HUIPENTUU MARRASKUUSSA ETNOSOI!SSA Harmonikkataiteilija Maria Kalaniemen 30-vuotistaiteilijajuhlavuosi huipentuu Etnosoi!- festivaalilla Savoy-teatterissa 8.11. pidettävään juhlakonsertiin. Kalaniemen juhlavuoden päättävässä juhlakonsertissa lavalla nähdään taiteilijan luottomuusikkoystäviä ja kuullaan kappaleita Kalaniemen uran eri vaiheilta. Kalaniemi on viimeksi nähty Etnosoi!-estradilla vuonna 1993 uraansa aloittelevana nuorena artistina. Nyt hän palaa festivaalilavalle kansainvälisesti juhlittuna ja palkittuna harmonikkataiteilijana, joka on tehnyt mittavan uran koti- ja ulkomailla uudistaen käsitystä harmonikasta ja sillä soitettavasta musiikista. Maria Kalaniemi on monista musiikkityyleistä oman persoonallisen ilmaisunsa kehittänyt taiteilija. Hän on noussut yhdeksi arvostetuimmista muusikoista maassamme. Kalaniemen luomaa lyyrisen herkkää ja intensiivistä soittotyyliä on kuvattu osuvasti suomalaiseksi haitarifadoksi. Etnosoi!ssa pidettävän juhlakonsertin musiikillinen spektri on laaja meditatiivisista äänimaisemista suomenruotsalaisiin juuriin sekä vauhdikkaisiin tangon ja polkan rytmeihin, joita siivittää villi improvisaatio. Konsertti on ”kuin vuosien aikana hioutunut timantti”; kattava läpileikkaus Kalaniemen urasta vuosien varrelta ja kuitenkin oma harmoninen ja visuaalisesti kaunis kokonaisuutensa. Konsertissa Marian kanssa lavalla nähdään monessa meritoitunut pianisti Timo Alakotila, jonka kanssa Maria on soittanut yhdessä yli 20 vuotta. Alakotilan kanssa tehdystä Åkerö-levystä Kalaniemi myös palkittiin Etno-Emmalla 2013. Lavalla Marian kanssa nähdään lisäksi yksi Suomen tunnetuimmista kansanmuusikoista, Arto Järvelä, jonka kanssa Maria opiskeli yhdessä Sibelius-Akatemian ensimmäisellä kansanmusiikkiosaston vuosikurssilla. Molemmat soittivat aikoinaan myös Niekku-yhtyeessä. Kolmantena luottomuusikkoystävänä illassa kuullaan kitaristi- ja mandoliinitaituri Olli Varista, jonka kanssa Maria on tehnyt mm. kiitellyn konserttiprojektin Runonsoitto – Bellow poetry. Musiikillista väriä juhlakonserttiin tuo myös huippumuusikoista koostuva jousisektio, jossa soittavat Tommi Asplund, Esko Järvelä, Arto Järvelä, Alina Järvelä, Marion Göbel ja Timo Myllykangas. Maria nousi kansallisen tason huomioon vuonna 1983 voitettuaan ensimmäisen Kultainen Harmonikka -kilpailun. Tämän jälkeen maailma on vienyt Mariaa. Hän on valloittanut kansainvälisiä areenoita sooloprojektiensa lisäksi etenkin tunnetulla Accordion tribe -kokoonpanolla. Valtavirrassa Kalaniemi tunnetaan kotimaassa konserttikiertueilta mm. Vesa-Matti Loirin, Toni Edelmanin, Iiro Rantalan, Tango- orkesteri Unton, Katri-Helenan sekä oopperalaulaja Jorma Hynnisen kokoonpanoissa. Kalaniemi on voittanut lukuisia palkintoja ja hänen tienraivaajan roolinsa suomalaisen kansanmusiikin kansainvälisen tunnettuuden lisäämisessä on kiistaton. Useasti World Music Charts European listoilla vieraillut Maria on ehdottomasti yksi menestyneimpiä kansanmuusikoita maassamme. ”...Yleisö oli haltioissaan. Aplodit olivat myrskyisiä ja ja konsertin jälkeen oli kuultavissa pelkästään ylistäviä sanoja hyvästä loistavaan ja suurenmoiseen. Kriitikoita oli paikalla Munchenia myöten. Arvostelijoiden mielestä Kalaniemi teki kunniaa konsertin otsakkeelle "uudet maailmat -rajaton". Hän on positiivisessa mielessä ylittänyt kaikki kansanmusiikin rajat, katkonut sen kahleet, uudistanut ja ajanmukaistanut sitä. Kalaniemi on paras todiste siitä, että kansanmusiikki on elävää musiikkia. Lisäksi hänen käsissään raja kansanmusiikin ja klassisen taidemusiikin välillä katoaa, niin teknisesti kuin sisällöllisesti. -Kalaniemen Wienin konsertista raportoi Marita Vihervuori- Etnosoi!ssa kuullaan suomalaista kansanmusiikkia lisäksi Etnosoi!n lauantai-klubilla 9.11. jossa juhlitaan Juha Kujanpää Ensemblen ensilevyn julkaisua. Kansanmusiikin ja jazzin välimaastossa suvereenisti operoivan Kujanpään musiikki liikkuu nykykansanmusiikin ja suomiprogen rajapinnoilla. Pohjoisen sävyjä kuullaan Nils-Aslak Valkeapään juhlakonsertissa Helsingissä 7.11. ja Inarissa Saamelaiskulttuurikeskus Sajoksessa 9.11. Syvälle englantilaisen folkin ja romanimusiikin maailmaan Etnosoi!-yleisön johdattaa englannin parhaisiin folk-laulajiin lukeutuva Sam Lee, ja kansojen musiikkeja mm. Unique at the national territory, it is one of the most beautiful musical adventures that can be discovered. Once more we have the presence of prominent instrumentalists and composers, which constitute itself at a visited planetarium guidebook, discovered and that presents itself as fabulous.
