Prime Day Is Happening on October 13 - 14
Prime Day is October 13 - 14 No images? Click here It's official: Prime Day is happening on October 13 - 14. All of us have been making educated guesses, but here it is straight from the source. Amazon is also running promotional deals at Whole Foods in tandem with the online sales event, continuing their mission to gain ground in grocery. It's a known fact that there's a "halo effect" of increased overall retail sales during Prime Day. To capitalize on this, Walmart and Target are planning their own sales to coincide with the event, and this compressed timeline should kick start the holiday sales season way earlier than usual. When's the last time you bought anything online that had zero reviews? That's what I thought. The latest guide on our website looks at two Amazon review generation programs: Amazon Vine and the Early Reviewer Program. Click here to see the post, and reach out if you want to know more. We're only an email away. The Amazon-iverse This week, the Bezos machine also revealed Amazon One, a new biometric technology for brick and mortar stores that scans your palm for payment. It's a good time to go contactless; I wonder when Walmart will reveal its version. eMarketer recently reported that Amazon Music will increase its monthly listenership by 18.5% this year to 45.8 million. They forecast that Amazon Music will surpass Pandora in monthly listeners by 2023. Last week we talked about Amazon rebranding Twitch Prime to Prime Gaming. This week, they revealed Luna, a cloud gaming service that aims to compete with Google and Microsoft. -

Jeff Bezos founded the electronic commerce company Amazon in 1995, a name chosen for his taste for the Amazon River. Their service was somewhat novel to netizens, resulting in the increase in visits fastly. Only in the first month of operation, and to Bezos' own happiness, had books been sold in all corners of the United States. Months later it reached 2,000 daily visitors, a figure that would multiply abysmally in the next year. -

Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters. The first explores the ways in which Netflix's development during its early years a DVD-by-mail company – 1998-2007, a period I am calling "Netflix as Rental Company" – lay the foundations for the company's future iterations and successes. During this period, Netflix adapted DVD distribution to the Internet, revolutionizing the way viewers receive, watch, and choose content, and built a brand reputation on consumer-centric innovation. -

Reading Indicators on the Social Networks Goodreads and Librarything and Their Impact on Amazon Nieves González-Fernández- Villavicencio (Sevilla)
Reading indicators on the social networks Goodreads and LibraryThing and their impact on Amazon Nieves González-Fernández- Villavicencio (Sevilla) Summary: The aim of this paper is to identify relations between the most reviews and ratings books in Goodreads and LibraryThing, two of the most impacting social net- works of reading, and the list of top-selling titles in Amazon, the giant of the distribu- tion. After a description of both networks and study of their web impact, we have con- ducted an analysis of correlations in order to see the level of dependency between sta- tistical data they offer and the list of top-selling in Amazon. Only some slight evidences have been found. However there appears to be a strong or moderate correlation between the rest of the data, according to that we propose a battery of indicators to measure the book impact on reading. Keywords: Goodreads, LibraryThing, reading social networks, virtual reading clubs, reading indicators, Amazon 1 Epitexts, social reading networks and promotion of reading1 It is acknowledged that social media in general has become a way of com- municating to share a whole series of habits, behaviours and tastes, including reading and sharing books. This is the context in which Lluch et al. (2015: 798) deploy the concept of epitext and Jenkins’s notion of inter- active audiences, which are fostered by the social web and refer to groups of readers whose attention is focused on books and reading-related issues. «What we have are virtual identities for which it is equally important to keep abreast of the latest publishing releases and to exchange knowledge and opinions about books that they read, authors whom they like, themes and so forth» (Lluch et al., 2015: 798). -
