A visit to a museum is a search for beauty, truth, and meaning in our lives. Go to museums as often as you can. Maira Kalman

After 98 days of closure, beginning February 11 the Peggy Guggenheim Collection finally reopens to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 6 pm. Online ticketing is mandatory through the museum’s website, guggenheim-.it. Time slots are available, compliant with the latest regulations to contain the spread of Covid-19. Members and visitors who are granted free entrance must reserve via email at [email protected], indicating the day and preferred time of arrival. The Museum Shop located a few paces before the museum entrance will be open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm.

“We are happy to welcome visitors back to the galleries of Palazzo Venier dei Leoni,” affirms director Karole P. B. Vail. “As we reopen the museum will once again be a welcome meeting place for a community that needs the inspiration, dialogue and exchange that art gives us. In this way, the museum fulfills its social function as an inclusive, accessible space where knowledge of the past becomes reflection and inspiration for creating the present and the future. This opening is undoubtedly an invitation to our fellow citizens, Venetian residents, and of course to our loyal members and supporters who have been close to the museum during this second, long closure, while we wait for the Italian public and international visitors to start traveling again.”

The reopening is an excellent opportunity to return to the museum and visit the masterpieces of the permanent collection or to discover for the first time the great masters who wrote the history of European and American 20th-century art. Visitors will find a peaceful and reflective atmosphere, one which allows to listen to the art, to interact directly with the enigmatic magic of René Magritte’s paintings and the absolute mystery of ’s works, and to immerse oneself in the sweeping colors of works by Gino Severini and Grace Hartigan, or in the bright shades of the large canvases by Tancredi Parmeggiani, while also getting lost in the powerful gesture of ’s works.

In these months of closure, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection continued to engage remotely with the public thanks to its numerous digital and social-media activities, such as the online course “Art is Life,” and the program “Overcoming: Art Practices for the New Normal” with workshops for a young audience under 25 years of age organized with the participation of The Swatch Art Peace Hotel. But now it’s time to return to experiencing art and culture in person, savoring
