Four Safety Patrol members greeted the guests in the lobby, while the Student Council officers set the tables in the dining room. They put beautiful, sparkling cen- terpieces on the tables. The centerpieces were made by the Head Start and Pre-K4 students. There were also two colorful folding paper turkeys for the guest table. Thank you to Mrs. Illig. The students in Pre-K4 wore turkey head- bands! The second grade and first grade students made their own fancy placemats, the kindergarteners dressed like pilgrims wearing hats, bonnets and collars. The entire third grade class served the students, staff and guests. Each of the third grade students wore colorful and interesting aprons. The food was tasty: turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, applesauce, corn bread, and rolls. For dessert we ate pumpkin pudding with whipped cream and vanilla wafers. Everybody drank pink lemonade! Some of the guests were Mrs. Stiker, Mrs. Flint, Mr. Cunningham, Mrs. Wilkinson, and Mr. Johnson. We had many other people who also work for the school district sitting at the guest table, too. The Little Old Lady That Wasn’t Afraid of Anything, it is a title to a very amusing book, but Ms. Cathy Matthews, classroom assistant, made a few changes and turned it into a play. The four characters in the play were portrayed by 5th grade students. The students performed the play for 3rd and 4th grade classes and everyone loved it. Great job everyone! Summer 2020 Back-to-School Edition Contact Us! 607-739-6357 ● http://Horseheadsdistrict.com/HHMS.cfm Please see information related to the first day of school and schedules on page two. We are all in this together … It is hard to believe that September is just around the corner and the beginning of a new school year is almost upon us. In preparation for fall, I was struck by the fact that I have not seen students walking our hallways since the beginning of our extended dismissal on March 17th! This year will be differ- ent than the 20+ school open- ings I have experienced dur- ing my educational career as a teacher and administrator. I understand that we are all approaching this year with a different mindset; this will be a more challenging school opening than ever before. I also recognize and am thankful for our amazing students, families and staff. Together, we will create high- quality learning opportunities in a safe and supportive environment. Please take the time to read through this newsletter. It contains valuable information for the 2020-21 school year. We are looking forward to another great, yet challenging, school year. Stay safe and stay well, Mr. Holloway, Principal 1 Student Schedules Student schedules will be available to view on schooltool September 9th. 7th Grade Students and New 8th Grade Students 7th grade and new 8th grade students may pick-up their schedule and participate in a self-guided tour of the building September 8th and 9th.
