We have elcom the unique opportunity to e see the future we’ve been working towards taking shape before our eyes which, in turn, inspires more positive change moving forward. The transformation of this community is impressive. Over two years, we watched the Elmira Corning Regional Airport undergo a $61.5 million renovation into a world-class gateway with a modern, yet timeless, design and 60% more floor space. The $14 million 100 West Water project in Elmira will open in early 2019, hosting both commercial tenants and 50 market-rate apartments overlooking the Chemung River. Additional housing projects include Housing Visions, Maple Avenue Apartments - A CDS Housing Community, Libertad, and Capriotti Properties, to name a few. And that isn’t where it stops. This year we’ll start to see the complete revitalization of Arnot Mall beginning with the addition of the Holiday Inn Express and other exciting concepts to modernize our regional shopping experience. We’ll welcome LECOM students into our community. We’ll see the continued development of Airport Corporate Park as Wayfair adds to their already robust workforce and John G. Ullman & Associates completes their renovation of the former WICK office building, bringing even more jobs to Chemung County. For a relatively small and rural New York community, this progress is exceptional. But it’s not easy. The healthy collaboration between organizations like the Chamber, Southern Tier Economic Growth (STEG), Elmira Downtown Development (EDD), Finger Lakes Wine Country, and the business community, local municipalities, County Government, and Regional Economic Development Council have helped to make all of this possible. By working together, we have accomplished so much more than working alone. The following pages present a portrait of our area. The Community Profile highlights some enlightening statistics, which are presented in concert with illustrations that give context to the numbers. The Membership Directory is an account of the community’s firms and friends who have crafted that handsome and prosperous profile. The Chamber of Commerce commends our members. From billion dollar corporate complexes to inspired home-based entrepreneurs, from brand new arrivals to fifth generation locals, from around the corner to around the world, these members are working together for a better economy and a better community for everyone. They have seen our potential and have helped our promising future take shape. With that in mind, I urge you to do business with your fellow members. Without their support of this Chamber and their vision for our community, we wouldn’t be making the outstanding progress we are making, together. And if you are not yet a member, please contact the Chamber and ask how you, too, can be a part of our team and share in our collective success. Welcome!
